Bruce Willis’ Wife Shows Support For Caregivers Amid New Revelations in Gene Hackman and Wife Betsy’s Tragic Deaths; Asks to Look at ‘Broader Story’

Emma Heming Willis champions the well-being of caregivers! Known as a model and entrepreneur, she has taken on the role of primary caregiver for her husband, Bruce Willis, since his diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia in 2022. In a similar vein, Betsy Arakawa, wife of Gene Hackman, provided care for him until their heartbreaking passing in February 2025.

Based on the latest update, it’s been reported that Arakawa passed away from a rare lung condition approximately one week prior to her husband. This suggests that during this period, Hackman was unwell and spent seven days alone at home with Arakawa’s remains.

It’s said that the former actor, in his last moments, seemed lost and undernourished. Dementia caused by Alzheimer’s made people suspect that he might not have realized about his wife’s passing.

In response to this event, Heming Willis shared a video on her Instagram, highlighting that the unfortunate tale of Mr. and Mrs. Hackman carries a valuable message. “Those who care for others should also receive care,” she stressed.

It’s crucial that we support them, as this enables them to maintain their commitment to their loved ones.” To dispel a common misunderstanding, she emphasized that caregivers often face challenges in managing their own lives, contrary to the belief that they always have everything under control.

Actor Bruce Willis was diagnosed with dementia a year following his retirement from acting due to aphasia. Since then, his ex-wife Demi Moore and their grown daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah have shown immense support towards the struggling star.

Additionally, he has two younger daughters – Mabel Ray Willis, aged 12, and Evelyn Penn Willis, who is 10 years old – with his present spouse and main caretaker, Heming Willis.

In her book “The Unforeseen Voyage,” released in September 2024, she emphasized that resources and information are vital elements when it comes to providing care.
