In her newest publication titled “Brooke Shields: Forbidden to Age,” the actress openly discusses the most fragile periods of her life, sharing that she struggled with fertility issues following a surgical procedure which diminished her cervix’s size.
She mentioned that an unusual result was found in her pap smear, leading to a cone biopsy – a medical procedure where tissue from the cervix is taken out due to abnormalities. Upon discovering potentially cancerous cells in this region, doctors performed a surgical excision, taking away a significant part of her cervix. This procedure resulted in intense pain for her.
After the unfortunate event, it proved challenging for her to get pregnant through IVF, despite initial success. In her own words, “I was able to conceive during the first IVF attempt, but sadly lost the pregnancy three months into it,” she noted. She described those hours as the most agonizing twelve straight hours of her life.
“She expressed that the miscarriage was extremely forceful and unbearably painful,” she continued. The actress, mother to Rowan born in 2003 and Grier born in 2006, confessed that if she had been informed of the potential risks, she would have chosen differently for her surgery.
