Britney Spears Arrested in California Following Dui Incident

Britney Spears was arrested in Ventura County, California, on Wednesday night after being pulled over by the California Highway Patrol. Authorities say the 44-year-old singer was taken into custody around 9:30 PM on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to sheriff’s department records, Spears was officially arrested and booked at 3:02 AM on Thursday. She was held for a few hours and then released with a citation, leaving the facility around 6:00 AM.

This new legal issue comes just after the entertainer won a case earlier this week. A judge granted her a permanent restraining order against a 51-year-old man from Louisiana.

Since 2013, the man had been sending the woman unsettling messages on social media. He was also arrested for trespassing on her property in 2025. A recent court order now requires him to stay at least 100 yards away from her at all times, and will remain in effect until 2030.

Britney Spears has faced legal issues before, especially in the mid-2000s. Back in 2007, she was involved in a situation where she allegedly hit a parked car in Los Angeles. However, the charges were dropped after she paid for the damage.

The singer is due in court on May 4th at the Ventura County Superior Court to deal with a driving under the influence charge. Soon after the news became public, she took down her social media accounts, which she usually uses to connect with her fans.

Britney Spears has achieved a major financial victory by selling her entire music collection to Primary Wave for a reported $200 million. This deal gives her greater financial freedom after her conservatorship ended in 2021.

Although she’s not planning a typical return to music, she’s shared some hints about a new, secret project. She’s also mentioned wanting to perform overseas, possibly in the UK or Australia, but she previously stated she would never perform in the United States again.

A movie based on Britney Spears’s bestselling 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, is in the early stages of production at Universal Pictures. Jon M. Chu, the director of Wicked, is set to direct, and Spears will likely play a significant role in shaping the film’s creative direction.

People are already guessing who will star in the movie, with Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter being popular choices. However, the project is just getting started, and it likely won’t be released until 2027 or 2028 at the earliest.

Beyond her work, Britney Spears is prioritizing her well-being and reconnecting with her sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James. She’s shared that she finds dance and creativity helpful in processing her past and enjoying her new independence.
