Even though she stopped acting back in 1973, you can still see her impact in movies today. People remember her for amazing films, of course, but also for her incredibly public and exciting love life. I’m really excited to dive into some of her most famous relationships now!

1. Roger Vadim

Brigitte Bardot was famous not only for her movies but also for her exciting love life. She had many well-known relationships and passionate affairs. She first married director Roger Vadim in 1952, when she was just 18 years old.

Vadim was six years older than Bardot, and even after their divorce in 1957, they remained friends and continued to collaborate professionally. Their marriage ended partly due to an affair Bardot had with actor Jean-Louis Trintignant in 1956 while filming And God Created Woman.

2. Jean-Louis Trintignant

Following her divorce from Vadim, Brigitte Bardot had a two-year relationship with Jean-Louis Trintignant. It ended, in part, because she then became involved with singer Gilbert Bécaud.

3. Jacques Charrier

I’ve always been fascinated by Brigitte Bardot’s life, and her relationship with Jacques Charrier is a big part of that. They met while filming Babette Goes to War and fell in love pretty quickly, getting married in 1959. It was a whirlwind romance – they had a son, Nicolas, only seven months after the wedding! But later on, she confessed that being a mother wasn’t quite what she expected or hoped for.

Sadly, it wasn’t a long-lasting marriage, as she soon became involved with singer Mike Sarne. And before that ended, she also had a relationship with actor Patrick Gilles that lasted a few years, from ’68 to ’71.

Looking back at Bardot’s life, her romantic entanglements were almost as famous as her films. Over the years, she dated a string of high-profile men – Serge Gainsbourg, Warren Beatty, even writer John Gilmore and a ski instructor named Christian Kalt all come to mind. But she had two particularly significant relationships: a four-year romance with sculptor and actor Miroslav Brozek in the mid-70s, and then a five-year partnership with TV producer Allain Bougrain-Dubourg that lasted into the 80s. Brigitte Bardot’s last husband was Bernard d’Ormale, a businessman who also advised French politician Jean-Marie Le Pen. They began dating in 1992 and married that August.
