Fans of the Bridgerton series looking forward to more romantic tales will have to be patient. Netflix revealed on May 14 that Season 4 won’t premiere until 2026, with a specific air date yet to be disclosed. A sneak peek at Benedict Bridgerton (portrayed by Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (played by Yerin Ha), the main characters for this upcoming season, was also unveiled along with this announcement.
The brief glimpse reveals Benedict, disguised, attending a grand ball, exchanging meaningful glances with a woman wearing silver attire, who appears to be captivated by an ornate chandelier.
In Season 4 of Bridgerton, we’ll delve into Benedict Bridgerton’s romantic journey, inspired by Julia Quinn’s novel “An Offer from a Gentleman.” The narrative revolves around Benedict becoming smitten with Sophie Baek, a servant girl harboring grand aspirations and a cryptic past. Netflix characterizes Sophie as a diligent maid who also conceals her own secrets and ambitions.
Luke Thompson revealed to Netflix’s Tudum that the narrative takes a unique spin on the classic tale of ‘Cinderella,’ and he finds it thrilling to incorporate this twist into the familiar realm of Bridgerton.
In July 2024, it was officially confirmed that Luke Thompson would be the main character in Season 4 of Bridgerton. In Bridgerton’s third season, Benedict decided to end his casual relationship with Lady Tilley Arnold and pursue new experiences. Speaking to USA TODAY, Thompson explained, “He’s always been fascinated by the concept of freedom…and that continues.” He further stated, “At some point, you have to make a decision and take a stand.
Although it’s rumored that filming began in London, Netflix hasn’t yet verified if the production has wrapped up. Showrunner Jess Brownell previously shared with The Hollywood Reporter that the show operates on a two-year cycle, considering factors like filming, editing, voiceovers, and scriptwriting. However, Brownell mentioned they are attempting to expedite the process, but it’s likely still within this range.
Netflix has given approval for additional seasons of Bridgerton, specifically Seasons 5 and 6. The well-respected Bridgerton family from Mayfair will continue their storyline for another two seasons. As announced by executive producer Shonda Rhimes, the aim is to adapt all eight novels in the Bridgerton book series.
