In Bridgerton’s third season, Nicola Coughlan reminisced about the initial scene she filmed alongside Luke Newton – it was none other than the grand ballroom scene. At that moment, Colin (Newton) was torn about his emotions towards Penelope (Coughlan), and he seethed as he watched her dance with another eligible bachelor.
In an interview with British Vogue, Coughlan disclosed that Newton was unwell during filming for the pivotal moment in season 3, as she revealed in her conversation.
She disclosed that the initial scene she filmed with Luke was during his illness at the start of our filming period. Despite appearing smooth and natural in the finished product, this wasn’t an easy process. The actress from Derry Girls described it as a “frightening” experience due to various factors.
1. Initially, the dynamics between their characters in that storyline differed significantly from how they interacted during seasons 1 and 2.
2. She pointed out that it was particularly unsettling because it presented a new, uncharted dynamic unlike anything we’d seen on the show before. (Additional context: “she” is referring to the actress discussing the plot of a TV show.)
In a different part of the conversation, she shared insights on the outfit she chose for the upcoming wedding scene in Bridgerton’s third season. By the way, Penelope and Colin are set to tie the knot in that season, thus concluding their long-standing friends-to-lovers storyline.
Coughlan donned an exquisite wedding gown, later disclosed as a creation of John Glaser. She mentioned, “It was really neat when he asked me about my preference.” They explored ideas from Vivienne Westwood prior to settling on her overall appearance.
In her own words, the Irish actress reminisced about the dress being stunningly beautiful and pleasantly soft, offering comfort during the three-week filming of the scene. She expressed a deep affection for it, stating, “I adored it incredibly.
The highly favored Netflix show, Bridgerton, has completed filming for its fourth season, focusing on the romantic tale between Benedict (played by Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (portrayed by Yerin Ha). You can catch up with Bridgerton now on Netflix.
