As a die-hard fan who has binge-watched The Office more times than I can count, I must confess that the behind-the-scenes antics of the cast during filming have only added to my admiration for the show. The 2009 Secret Santa episode, in particular, stands out as a testament to the camaraderie and laughter that permeated the set.
“The Office, a widely discussed sitcom throughout history, had its cast members laughing uproariously during filming sessions. During one of their Christmas episodes, stars Jenna Fischer (Pam) and Angela Kinsey (Angela) admitted that Michael Scott’s portrayal as Santa Claus made the episode particularly challenging to get through due to its comedic value.
In their podcast “The Office Ladies”, the actresses reminisced about the 2009 Secret Santa episode, revealing that, upon closer inspection, the show’s cast is actually caught chuckling behind the scenes.
Brian Baumgartner, the actor who played Kevin, recently mentioned that the particular episode they filmed stood out as quite significant for them during the discussion about it.
Fischer pointed out, “In that episode, some individuals are forcing their way into the scene. Mindy casually exits. She simply turns around and walks away.” Kinsey swiftly commented, “Ed quickly hides in the hallway.” Baumgartner concurred with their observations.
In reminiscing, the actress from Hall Pass added, “Brian, I clearly remember the time you perched on Steve’s lap as Santa Claus. It seems that incident is often brought up in your presence, but it felt like nothing could diminish its impact.
In her words, the actress who played in Mean Girls shared that the final scene shown on TV was the best they could achieve at that point. She stated, “I believe they decided to call it quits.” Additionally, she mentioned, “It was more like, never mind. This is as good as it gets.
In the podcast’s mentioned episode, it becomes clear that the head of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, Michael Scott, magically turns into a Santa Claus who grants wishes. Each employee in the office then has an opportunity to share what they desire with this Santa figure.
Besides Fischer, Kinsey, and Baumgartner, the cast was also made up of Steve Carell, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson, Mindy Kaling, Ed Helms, B.J. Novak, as well as several other talented individuals.
The Office ran for nine seasons, from 2005 to 2013.
