The new Apple TV series, Pluribus, is receiving positive attention from both critics and viewers. It was created by Vince Gilligan, the acclaimed producer of Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, and features Rhea Seehorn, who also starred in his previous shows.
Pluribus takes place in a future after a disaster, where all of humanity unexpectedly becomes part of a single, shared consciousness.
Seehorn portrays Carol Sturka, a rare person who can resist being absorbed into a collective consciousness. The show’s title, taken from the Latin phrase e pluribus unum – meaning “out of many, one” – highlights the series’ main idea: the struggle between being an individual and being controlled by a group.
Apple has ordered two seasons of the new show Pluribus, which launched on November 7th with nine episodes. The show has received overwhelmingly positive reviews, boasting a 99% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 108 critic reviews and a score of 86 on Metacritic, indicating widespread praise.
Critics have praised both the writing and directing by Gilligan, as well as Ann Seehorn’s powerful performance. Nicholas Quah of Vulture described the series as captivating, specifically highlighting how Seehorn’s acting completely immerses the audience in the narrative.

The show also received praise for its slow, thoughtful pacing and beautiful visuals. Kaiya Shunyata from RogerEbert.com called it one of the most captivating and complex shows of the year, noting its unique combination of science fiction and noir elements. She particularly highlighted the compelling chemistry between the lead actress, Seehorn, and her co-star, Wydra.
Pluribus is receiving a lot of praise for being fresh, well-written, and stylish, adding to the successful track record of Gilligan and Seehorn.
