Braun Strowman Says He Is in Talks to Take on Iconic Horror Role

Braun Strowman, whose real name is Adam Scherr, is leaving professional wrestling to pursue a full-time acting career. He shared this decision in a recent interview with Collider, explaining he’s ready to focus entirely on acting now.

“I’m semi-retired from wrestling now too because I want to be an actor,” Scherr said.

In an interview with Perri Nemiroff from Collider, Scherr was asked about which well-known horror series he’d be most interested in working on.

He answered immediately. “Friday the 13th. Jason,” he said, and jokingly offered to shave his beard if he could play the role, complete with the hockey mask.

Jason Scherr hinted that discussions about him potentially taking on the role of Jason Voorhees are already underway. He mentioned, “I’m having some initial conversations with people I know and my agency. If everyone involved could agree and make it happen, I’d be interested in playing Voorhees.”

The possibility of Kane Hodder reprising his role as Jason Voorhees is gaining traction as discussions about reviving the *Friday the 13th* series continue. Last year, writer Jeff Locker, along with Jeremy Weiss and the franchise’s creator, Sean S. Cunningham, proposed both a reboot and a continuation of the original movie.

In 2024, Cunningham said a new film was likely several years off, as studios were unsure if the series would still be profitable.

Recently, there’s been positive news for fans of *Friday the 13th*. Producer Robbie Barsamian announced in July that both a new movie and a video game are currently being made. This development comes at a good time for actor Kane Hodder, who is hoping to reprise his role as the iconic masked killer Jason Voorhees.

Although it’s not confirmed yet, it appears Adam Scherr’s professional wrestling career is over, and he’s now pursuing opportunities in acting.
