In the upcoming modern-west production titled “The Rescue,” produced by Skydance Media, Brandon Sklenar, recognized primarily for his work in the series 1923, will take on the leading role.
In 1923, Sklenar’s performance catapulted him into the limelight as an up-and-coming talent, and his latest project is poised to enhance his standing in the western genre even more. According to Deadline’s sources, Sklenar is reportedly in discussions to be part of the film, which will be helmed by Potsy Ponciroli, renowned for Old Henry’s direction.
The Rescue” – A Contemporary Western Adventure
This movie presents an exciting new twist on the traditional western genre by featuring a skilled rodeo cowboy whose abilities are challenged beyond the confines of the arena. Although specific details about the storyline remain secret, this film is anticipated to offer a refreshing perspective on the classic western tale.
In collaboration with Hideout Pictures’ Ponciroli and his group, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger from Skydance, along with Cliff Roberts, are set to produce Down Home. Aimee Rivera will manage the project on behalf of Skydance, and filming is scheduled to start this summer.
In this new role, Brandon Sklenar continues to make strides in his acting career, building on the success of his impressive performance in the series 1923. The prequel to Yellowstone, featuring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, demonstrated Sklenar’s range as he convincingly played a tough action character while simultaneously displaying emotional nuance in his portrayal of a complex relationship with Julia Schlaepfer’s character.
Sklenar’s professional journey is swiftly progressing. Following 1923, he graced the screen in ‘It Ends With Us’, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s top-selling novel. This summer, the movie was a theater success, boosting Sklenar’s public image even more.
Apart from that, he’s involved in the movie “The Drop,” a Blumhouse thriller set to debut at SXSW before its spring release. Currently, he’s filming “The Housemaid,” an adaptation of a well-known novel, alongside Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried. Furthermore, he’s linked to “After Shock,” another thriller that has recently been acquired by Lionsgate.
Potsy Ponciroli, the head of “The Rescue,” is not new to the world of western movies. In 2021, his movie titled “Old Henry” earned praise for its authentic representation of the genre, noted for its raw depiction.
Apart from his current projects, Ponciroli is also involved with the upcoming action-packed thriller titled Motor City, featuring Alan Ritchson and Shailene Woodley. The upcoming partnership between Ponciroli and Sklenar in The Rescue has been generating a lot of excitement, as it brings together two skilled individuals recognized for their work in both action and drama genres.
