Brad Winderbaum Says Marvel Is Currently Developing Their First X-Men Movie: “That is the focus of X-Men currently”

By September 2023, as reported by Deadline, Marvel Studios had begun considering pitches for an X-Men film and anticipated choosing a writer by early 2024. Then, in May 2024, another Deadline report indicated that Michael Lesslie was in negotiations to pen the script.

Approximately two months down the line, in July, Kevin Feige had an interview with Gizmodo and hinted that the film would blend established characters with new ones. His enthusiasm was evident as he looked forward to infusing the saga-like elements of the X-Men into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

Later on in November, Feige informed Omelete that the movie will hit the screens following the release of Avengers: Secret Wars.

Speaking of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) characters, Kamala Khan was officially introduced as a mutant in her appearances, Professor X, played by Patrick Stewart, made a return in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”, and the franchise was rekindled through animation in “X-Men ’97”. However, the most significant development is “Deadpool & Wolverine”, where Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will be introduced into the MCU via a multiverse plotline.

Although these advancements have been made, the complete X-Men squad hasn’t joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as of now. Recently, Brad Winderbaum shared some insights on the present state of mutants and the X-Men film within the MCU.

Online, anyone can say anything and spark rumors, causing excitement. At present, we are busy working on season 2 of X-Men ’97, which looks incredible, and the scripts for season 3 are mind-blowing. This is definitely satisfying my X-Men cravings on TV. Furthermore, an X-Men feature film is in active development now, so that’s where all the attention is focused regarding X-Men.

It’s evident that Winderbaum didn’t disclose specifics, but he made it plain that Marvel is determined to bring the X-Men to the big screen. On the other hand, the X-Men ’97 series will maintain the franchise on television, as seasons two and three are already under development.
