He recalled a time when the director asked him to portray a very disturbing scenario: ‘Imagine a serial killer choking someone until they pass out, then bringing them back just to do it again. That’s what I want you to do!’ Pitt explained.
The director’s unusual and unsettling direction immediately made Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Brian Tyree Henry burst out laughing. Henry playfully suggested the director must be like Ted Bundy, and Taylor-Johnson chimed in, comparing the filmmaker to Jeffrey Dahmer because of the morbid advice he’d given.

His latest film, the racing drama F1, directed by Joseph Kosinski, has become his most financially successful movie to date and recently received an unexpected nomination for Best Picture at the 2026 Academy Awards.
