In 2002, the boy band O-Town ended the third season of their reality TV series titled ‘Making the Band’. Later on, a fresh version of this show was initiated under the guidance of the now controversial music executive Sean “Diddy” Combs. Currently, the band is grappling with the consequences of their past connection to Diddy.
One member of the band, Erik-Michael Estrada, voiced his dismay about how Diddy’s September 2024 arrest on allegations such as racketeering and human trafficking affected him.
He shared with The Hollywood Reporter that it’s unfortunate their livelihood has been affected for such a long time following the transfer of the brand to him. He made it clear, though, that they are not associated with him in any way.
After the arrest of the disgraced rapper, Estrada acknowledged they’ve encountered cancelled events and reluctance from booking agents, who are hesitant to work with them because of perceived ties to Diddy. Matt Rafal, their agent at Universal Attractions Agency, disclosed that promising opportunities are being withdrawn due to such assumptions.
He stated that we explicitly distinguished O-Town’s Making the Band from Diddy, yet we were concerned that visitors might get mixed up. Since the announcement about Diddy, we’ve noticed a lot of queries and uncertainty from potential event organizers,” he explained.
