The anime version of Tsuyoshi Yasuda’s “Blue Miburo” is gaining momentum with significant news. The production team has unveiled five fresh voices that will be joining the cast for the second half of the series, premiering in episode 17 on February 8th. Moreover, a striking new visual has been released, hinting at an upcoming fierce confrontation.
In addition to the main actors, we have Ryōhei Kimura portraying Yaksha, Yoshiki Nakajima taking on the role of Sendō, Yoku Shioya as Ryōken, Masashi Yamane as Hanabishi, and Daisuke Hirakawa playing Anegakōji Kintomo. The official romanization of their character names is yet to be announced.
The second segment of the anime began on January 11, following the conclusion of the initial part on January 4. Originally starting on October 19, the series can be watched every Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Japan (3:30 a.m. EST) on channels like YTV, NTV, and their affiliates. The story is unfolding over two parts, with Crunchyroll streaming it simultaneously as it airs.
In the second part, ‘Umeda Cypher’ plays the freshly produced theme song titled ‘OOKAMI’, by ‘banvox’. The narrative continues to revolve around Nio, portrayed by Shūichirō Umeda, with Yōhei Azakami providing the voice for Hijikata Toshizō and Kenshō Ono playing Okita Sōji.
Among the cast members rejoining us are Chiaki Kobayashi portraying Saitō Hajime, Shun Horie taking on Tanaka Tarō, Ryota Takeuchi assuming the role of Serizawa Kamo, Tomokazu Sugita playing Kondō Isami, and Megumi Ogata depicting Kikuchiyo.

In this storyline, we’ve also got Kyōhachi Yōtarō voiced by Mamoru Miyano, Nagi voiced by Chika Anzai, Sakura voiced by Rie Takahashi, Hebi voiced by Kujira, and many others joining the cast. This anime is directed by Kumiko Habara from Maho Film, with Kenta Ihara taking care of the script, while Yūko Ōba and Miyako Nishida handle character design. The musical composition is done by Yuki Hayashi, and Toshiki Kameyama serves as the sound director.
The English-titled “The Blue Wolves of Mibu” is published by Kodansha USA Publishing. It’s about an orphan named Nio, who yearns to transform the world. He unexpectedly joins the early days of the Shinsengumi, a band of tough warriors dedicated to justice and their beliefs. This manga debuted in the “Weekly Shōnen Magazine” in 2021, with its 14th volume coming out in July.
