On July 15th, Dark Horse Comics is coming out with a collected edition of the series, Blood Blockade Battlefront. This initial volume will merge the content from the first three original releases and add the inaugural chapter of volume four, titled “E-Den of Master Fighters“.
The manga, crafted by Yasuhiro Nightow, unfolds in the fantastical urban setting of Hellsalem’s Lot, which was previously known as New York City. This metropolis is enclosed within a potent barrier to prevent malevolent entities from breaking free.
Within this enclosed realm, cohabit individuals alongside beasts of myth and extraordinary beings, striving to maintain harmony. Yet, a menace lurks at the borders, intent on shattering the protective veil and unleashing disorder in the world beyond. A youth with unique vision rises to shield all residents.
Initially, Nightow published a standalone version of the tale in 2008. In the year that followed, he transformed it into a three-part mini-series. This series was serialized in Jump SQ magazines between 2010 and 2015. Afterward, it transitioned to Jump SQ Crown, and eventually to Jump SQ RISE.
10 volumes of the manga fall under the series “Blood Blockade Battlefront,” and another 10 are part of its sequel series called “Blood Blockade Battlefront Back 2 Back.” In the year 2022, a third season titled “Blood Blockade Battlefront Beat 3 Peat” commenced, with the third volume being published in 2025.
For the given anime series, there are two distinct seasons that have been released. The initial season made its debut in the year 2015, while the second season followed in 2017. Both seasons were available for streaming on Funimation, featuring English subtitles and dubs. Additionally, Crunchyroll also provided streaming services for the second season.
