Blake Lively’s Legal Moves Spark Controversy: Is She Threatening Constitutional Rights?

The legal dispute between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively remains intricate, as reported by People magazine. In March, Lively’s lawyers filed a motion to dismiss Baldoni’s $400 million defamation countersuit against her, labeling it “unfounded” and an “inappropriate use of the legal system,” claiming it was an attempt by Baldoni and his team to silence and discredit Lively for speaking out about sexual harassment.

As reported by People magazine, Bryan Freedman, who represents the star of Jane the Virgin, has responded to Lively’s motion. In his statement, Freedman alleges that Lively’s actions were strategically aimed at “extorting and manipulating” his client. The documents further suggest that Lively’s intention was to force Wayfarer Studios to surrender complete control over the film It Ends With Us. However, when this plan failed, she supposedly tried to “tarnish” Baldoni and Wayfarer’s reputation instead.

Additionally, Freedman made a comment to People magazine, suggesting that this case might establish an undesirable pattern by denying access to the courthouse for his client. He expressed, “Ms. Lively and her influential Hollywood group can’t obstruct my clients from exercising their constitutional prerogative to appeal to the court to remove their names from her unfounded and damaging accusations.

The dispute between Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively started in December 2024, when Lively initiated a lawsuit against Baldoni. Earlier, fans had picked up on tension between them due to the challenging It Ends With Us promotional phase, where the director seemed to be absent or barely present. This sparked speculation among online users about a potential feud between the stars of the Colleen Hoover adaptation. Neither side spoke publicly about these rumors until Blake filed her lawsuit.
