Trigger warning: This article contains mentions of sexual harassment.
On the bustling red carpet of the SXSW premiere for Another Simple Favor on March 7th, I, Blake Lively, radiated an aura of calm amidst swirling legal matters with Justin Baldoni. As an observer shared with Page Six, I exuded joy and an unflappable demeanor as I graced the Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas.
Radiating beauty, she donned a strapless peach gown by Renee Masoomian, adorned with black details, while posing for photographers at the event. Previously, Lively was spotted snapping selfies with fans and taking photos before stepping into the premiere venue. Furthermore, some guests managed to snap shots of the actress within the screening hall.
In the front row sat the actress, paired with her fellow actor Michele Morrone. As a couple portrayed in the movie, they both shone while posing together on the red carpet. An informant shared with Page Six that the star of The It Ends With Us received a rousing applause from the audience.
As the curtain raised on the highly anticipated sequel to the 2018 thriller-comedy “Simple Favor,” I found myself standing shoulder-to-shoulder with my on-screen adversary, Blake Lively, who has been praised by director Paul Feig and her co-star Anna Kendrick. Off screen, our characters may have been arch enemies, but the admiration that resonated from behind the scenes was evident.
In the sequel, the lead actresses once again take on their main characters alongside Henry Golding. Additionally, Morrone becomes part of the recurring cast in a fresh role. The story revolves around Stephanie Smothers (played by Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (portrayed by Lively), who jet off to the picturesque Italian island of Capri for Emily’s lavish wedding to a wealthy Italian entrepreneur, as suggested by the plot summary.
The movie debut took place while Lively’s high-profile legal dispute with her ITWU costar, Baldoni, was intensifying. In December 2024, she lodged a sexual harassment complaint against him, alleging inappropriate behavior on the sets of their romantic film production.
In January, the director of Five Feet Apart filed a countersuit worth $400 million against allegations of defamation and extortion. This high-profile case, often referred to as a “PR firm feud,” is set to go to trial on March 9, 2026.
