As a passionate fan who has grown up admiring Blake Lively’s talent and grace both on and off-screen, this recent revelation about her experiences during the making of “It Ends With Us” is nothing short of heart-wrenching. It feels like a betrayal of trust, not just between Lively and Justin Baldoni, but also with the audience who looked up to them for their portrayal of strong characters in the film.
Blake Lively has submitted a legal claim alleging sexual harassment and retribution by her co-star and director Justin Baldoni on the set of “It Ends With Us.” The complaint, filed with California’s Civil Rights Department on December 21, lists Baldoni, his production company Wayfarer Studios, and other film-related parties as defendants.
In a statement, Lively asserts that Baldoni fostered an unpleasant workplace atmosphere while filming “It Ends With Us,” a production adapted from Colleen Hoover’s novel. Additionally, she alleges that Baldoni and his team intentionally organized a negative publicity campaign against her after voicing her concerns.
The legal papers outline multiple instances where harassment is claimed to have occurred. Lively asserts that she and her team experienced explicit material on the filming location, such as revealing videos or photos of females.
Additionally, she alleges that both Baldoni and co-producer Jamey Heath made uncomfortable remarks regarding their personal histories, private body parts associated with their gender, and subjects related to sex.
Moreover, Lively asserts that Baldoni demanded knowledge about her weight from her fitness coach without her approval. She maintains he aimed to incorporate sexually explicit sequences, including oral sex, which were not initially scripted. In her petition, Lively portrays the atmosphere as unwelcoming, implying it significantly threatened the movie’s production.
The lawsuit also accuses Baldoni’s crisis management team of planning to harm Lively’s reputation. Documents submitted in court reveal strategies to manipulate public opinion, including using her close friendship with Taylor Swift to shift focus.
An internal email from Baldoni’s team indicated apprehension over potential overlap between Swift’s and Lively’s fanbases. The message read, “We need to pay particular attention since a portion of our audience also follows Swift.
An alternative paper detailed strategies for propagating narratives concerning the “feminist weaponization” and proposed linking Lively with allegations akin to those directed at Swift.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d like to share that Justin Baldoni has refuted the allegations against him, speaking through his attorney, Bryan Freedman. In a statement, Freedman described the accusations as “entirely unfounded, excessively sensational, and deliberately scandalous with the intention of causing public harm and rehashing old media narratives.
After directing and acting in “It Ends With Us”, Baldoni has separated from his management agency, WME. This move was taken by the agency’s higher-ups after the submission of Lively’s complaint.
