Blake Lively Reveals Her Mom Told Her She ‘Couldn’t Mess It Up’ in Sweet Birthday Wish Amid Intensifying Justin Baldoni Feud

On Thursday, June 5th, Blake Lively took to Instagram Stories to pay a touching tribute to her mother, Willie Elaine McAlpin. In her heartfelt message, she acknowledged the unwavering support and creative inspiration her mom provided throughout her childhood, even during hectic periods.

Thankful for my mom, who always found time for creative endeavors with me, even when she was incredibly busy,” wrote [someone] under a photo they posted holding a bouquet. “She would say I ‘couldn’t ruin it,’ but I certainly could have. The creative empowerment and trust she instilled in me over the years has been an invaluable gift. Most of my passions stem from or are nurtured by her.

In a more casual and straightforward manner: She, the star of “The It Ends with Us”, shared a close-up photo of her beautiful flower arrangement. The colors ranged from pink to magenta and white. Her caption read, “My flower babies, from seeds to harvest, to this arrangement.” Then, she jokingly suggested, “@me for your upcoming graduations, funerals, or weddings.

A few weeks after Lively paid tribute to her mother during her speech at the TIME 100 Gala, where she was named one of the year’s most influential individuals, we are now presenting this public acknowledgement. In her address, she discussed her personal journey and the obstacles she has overcome, expressing gratitude towards her mom for molding her perspective.

At a recent gathering, Blake Lively revealed that her mother did not receive justice for an incident involving one of her professional associates, who tried to harm her when she was caring for three small children – this event occurred several years prior to Blake’s birth.

In simpler terms, she mentioned that her mother discovered hope through another woman’s account of overcoming adversity. Lively explained that this woman vividly and frankly recounted her harrowing escape, which in turn prevented her mom from succumbing to fear and unjust shame. She emphasized that it was a stranger whose story saved her mother’s life, but she would never know the woman’s name.

In her address, Lively also gave a shout-out to her husband, Ryan Reynolds. She expressed gratitude to all men, including her loving husband, for being compassionate and virtuous even when unobserved.

Blake Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni

This week, Lively chose to retract her accusations of intentional and negligent emotional distress she had made in her lawsuit versus Justin Baldoni, the director and co-star of It Ends with Us. Nevertheless, her legal representatives explained that this action is a common step during legal proceedings.

In her lawsuit, Lively also maintains allegations of emotional distress, along with accusations of sexual harassment, retaliation, and substantial extra compensatory damages for each claim, among other things.

In December 2024, Lively lodged a lawsuit against Baldoni, alleging instances of sexual harassment and a damaging smear campaign in retaliation. Subsequently, Baldoni counter-sued Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and their representatives for defamation, blackmail, and additional charges. The trial for this case has been set for March 2026.
