Recently revealed court documents from the legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni detail a heated conflict involving a top Sony Pictures executive. In a deposition made public on Tuesday, the executive admitted to calling Lively a deeply offensive name – referring to her as a “f terrorist” – during the challenging production of the 2024 film, It Ends With Us. Giannetti, a high-level production executive, made the comment when on-set tensions were at their peak.
In September 2025 testimony, Giannetti admitted to making the harsh statement. She confirmed to the court that she did say it to Jamey Heath, the CEO of Wayfarer Studios. Giannetti explained the comment came about because she was frustrated after Blake Lively, age 38, threatened to leave the movie if her demands weren’t met right away.
The studio had a lot riding on the film when the disagreement happened. Giannetti explained that Sony Pictures had already invested a significant amount of money in adapting the Colleen Hoover novel. She felt they had to complete the film, because the financial investment was so high, or it wouldn’t be able to be released. This put a lot of pressure on the team to agree to the lead actress’s demands.
Lively had a detailed list of requirements designed to ensure a respectful and professional atmosphere while filming sensitive scenes. These included a firm rule against any unscripted intimate moments and a prohibition on discussing explicit or sexual experiences. She also requested that conversations about her appearance, weight, or personal life be avoided, and that discussions of sexual anatomy not take place on set.
Baldoni, age 41, and Heath decided to move forward with these conditions to ensure the project continued. But Blake Lively’s lawsuit, filed in December 2024, states that this agreement actually started a series of actions meant to harm her career. She alleges that after she got what she asked for, Baldoni and the team at Wayfarer deliberately tried to damage her reputation in the industry.
Even though a previous legal statement showed tension between them, Giannetti sent Lively a very enthusiastic text after the movie became a huge financial success. The message read, “Blake, $50 million!! Your hard work, intelligence, and passion are in every scene. It’s incredible. Thank you so much. And it’s only Saturday night!” During her court testimony, Giannetti explained that her praise was only about the film’s impressive box office earnings, not Lively’s behavior.
Giannetti stated she didn’t remember Lively ever directly hearing Baldoni or Heath do anything that made her feel uncomfortable before Lively threatened to quit. Baldoni continues to deny all accusations of s harassment and retaliation, and in November 2025, he asked the judge to dismiss the lawsuit, claiming the allegations have no basis in fact.
The judge is expected to announce a decision on Thursday after reviewing the arguments presented. This ruling will decide if the lawsuit filed by Lively will be dismissed, or if the case will move forward to a public trial planned for May 2026.
Released in August 2024, the film It Ends With Us was a huge commercial success, earning over $300 million worldwide, even with reports of difficulties during production. Based on Colleen Hoover’s popular 2016 novel, the story centers on Lily Bloom, a florist who falls in love with a neurosurgeon who has a troubled past. The movie tackles difficult subjects like domestic violence and emotional abuse, which reportedly made filming particularly challenging.
Blake Lively became well-known internationally for playing Serena van der Woodsen on the TV show Gossip Girl, which aired from 2007 to 2012. Since then, she’s built a successful movie career, appearing in films like The Age of Adaline, The Shallows, and the thriller A Simple Favor. She’s also expanded her talents to directing, having directed Taylor Swift’s music video “I Bet You Think About Me,” which earned her an award nomination from the Academy of Country Music.
I first really noticed Justin Baldoni when he played Rafael on Jane the Virgin – he was so good! But lately, he’s been doing amazing things behind the camera too. He’s started his own production company, Wayfarer Studios, and directed some really moving films like Five Feet Apart and the Disney+ movie Clouds. Plus, I really admire that he’s been so open about talking about what it means to be a man and even wrote a book about it called Man Enough: Undefining My Masculinity. He’s definitely someone I’m excited to see more from!
The tension between the two actors became clear during the movie’s publicity events, as they mostly avoided appearing together. Lively did most of her promotion independently or with other co-stars, and Baldoni gave his own separate interviews. This distance quickly led to online rumors of a disagreement, even before any legal issues arose.
If this case goes to trial in May 2026, it’s expected to be a highly public legal fight, potentially one of the most closely watched in recent Hollywood history. The reputations of everyone involved are on the line, and the result could change how disagreements and creative decisions are handled on big movie and TV sets.
