In an interview with People magazine, actors Jenny Slate and Blake Lively discussed their latest movie based on Colleen Hoover’s popular novel. In a heartfelt conversation with the magazine, they revealed that filming a particularly impactful scene proved to be quite emotional for them.

Near the closing scenes of the film, Lily (played by Lively) shares with Allysa that her boyfriend Ryle Kincaid (portrayed by Justin Baldoni) has been abusive and she is pregnant. In response, Slate’s character offers her support and encourages Lily to stay away from him.

In a conversation with her fellow actor regarding that particular scene, Blake Lively commented, “You truly simplified it for me. I merely observed you.” Later, she disclosed that she had planned to deliver the scene in a reserved manner, assuming she wouldn’t be moved following all the emotional scenes they had previously filmed together.

Yet, upon starting her act, Slate triggered an emotional response in Lively, causing her to fight back tears. She confessed, “My nose was running uncontrollably! I was trying my best to keep it together.” (or, “I had a runny nose and was doing my best not to show it.”)

Actress Michelle Yeoh, who starred in Everything Everywhere All at Once, noted a genuine bond with her co-star during filming. She expressed that watching him and feeling the emotional depth of each scene made their performances seem effortless to her.
