At the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, a protestor advocating for Justin Baldoni drew attention by picketing outside the screening of Another Simple Favor, featuring Blake Lively. This demonstrator, who went by the handle @colonelkurtz99 on X platform, donned a shirt that read ‘Blake Deceived’ and waved a placard calling for ‘Justice for Justin Baldoni.’
This demonstration takes place during the continuous court dispute between Lively and Baldoni. Back in December 2024, Lively initiated a lawsuit against Baldoni and his studio, Wayfarer Studios, alleging sexual harassment and an effort to tarnish her image. As a countermeasure, Baldoni and his PR team have filed a lawsuit against The New York Times for approximately USD 250 million, citing defamation due to their reporting on Lively’s accusations.
Regardless of the disputes, Lively made an appearance at the premiere held at Austin’s Paramount Theater. During this event, she shared her enthusiasm for reprising her character as Emily Nelson, whom she affectionately referred to as a favorite. She also conveyed her eagerness for the sequel. In a display of solidarity, director Paul Feig lauded Lively as an ‘outstanding collaborator’ and squashed any rumors about creative disagreements. He emphasized that his version was the sole iteration of the movie.
