As someone who has followed Blade since his comic book days, I must admit I’m caught between hope and skepticism regarding this project. On one hand, the tantalizing prospect of Mahershala Ali bringing the Daywalker to life is too enticing to ignore. On the other, the whispers of production problems and potential cancellation have left me with a sinking feeling that I’ve felt far too often in my years as a Marvel fan.
It’s common knowledge that “Blade” is a much-awaited Marvel Studios production with Oscar winner Mahershala Ali taking the lead role. Yet, this project is currently in an uncommon phase of development, making it hard to foresee the outcome or even if we’ll ever get to watch this movie.
According to expert DanielRPK’s latest findings, Marvel appears to be contemplating the termination of both ‘Blade’ and ‘Armor Wars’. Given the production issues surrounding ‘Blade’, it seems its continuation may be at risk. It’s worth noting that we’ve previously reported on these troubles.
But, in contrast to this, another industry insider has a completely different claim. And while he is not assuring us that the movie is going to be made, he is claiming that it is a top-priority project for Marvel and that it might be a major movie as far as the post-Multiverse period is concerned.
The source we are talking about, as we’ve said, is Alex Perez, who regularly posts his rumors and information on the Cosmic Circus, and here is what he revealed about the state of the Blade movie:
Redovah: Alex, what the heck is going on with Blade?
Alex: There’s a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Blade. Will it be produced or not? Currently, the plan is to create Blade, and more than just a movie, they aim to make him the central character in their upcoming supernatural series. However, to achieve this, they need to craft an engaging introduction for him and develop a compelling story that will captivate audiences and set the stage for the entire saga. If Blade doesn’t perform well, it could negatively impact the Midnight Sons storyline. At present, they are working on finding the perfect story to tell about him.

Additionally, if you’ve been curious about the release dates, Alex also shares some updates on that topic:
joshua: Hi Alex. Any ideas on the current situation on Blade, do you think it can still make late 2025?
Alex: Some people still mention November 2025, but I’ve been informed multiple times that Blade has been without a release date for some time now and will likely stay that way until the script finds its proper position.

It’s not fantastic news, but it’s definitely an improvement over the gossip suggesting Marvel might abandon the project. Here’s hoping the script gets written swiftly, leading to a spectacular film for us to enjoy!
