Ah, the whispers of the financial world grow louder! BlackRock, that colossal titan of asset management, is now toying with the idea of filing for an XRP ETF. Can you believe it? Just a while ago, they scoffed at the notion of dabbling in altcoins! 😲

In a recent musing, the ever-watchful ETF analyst Nate Geraci pondered whether XRP or Solana ETFs might be swept up in a grand batch approval alongside other applications. It seems BlackRock has a knack for handling Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF applications with a certain flair, doesn’t it? 🎩

Should BlackRock decide to flip the script and file for an XRP ETF, it could very well send shockwaves through the already crowded race, where contenders like Bitwise, Canary Capital, 21Shares, and the ever-ambitious Franklin Templeton are all vying for glory. 🏁

As reported by U.Today, Geraci had previously predicted that BlackRock and Fidelity would eventually join the ETF fray. After all, these giants can’t just sit on the sidelines, can they? But alas, no signs of S-1 filings from them are on the horizon just yet. 🕵️‍♂️

Favoritism accusations

In a twist worthy of a soap opera, VanEck recently penned a letter to the SEC, expressing their discontent over being sidelined by the big boys like BlackRock and Fidelity. They argue that this favoritism is a real innovation killer in the ETF arena. Who knew finance could be so dramatic? 🎭

Together with their smaller ETF comrades, VanEck is calling on the SEC to bring back a “first-to-file” system for approving ETF applications. Because, you know, fairness is so last season! 😏

XRP approval odds

Currently, the odds of XRP approval are looking exceptionally bright, according to the crystal ball of Polymarket bettors. 🔮

Bloomberg reports that Paul Atkins’s SEC is likely to give the green light to such products by late 2025, but there’s a glimmer of hope for an earlier approval as soon as this July. Fingers crossed! 🤞
