As a cinephile eagerly waiting for the next installment of “Black Panther,” I’m thrilled to share that we finally have a release date marked on our calendars, along with the exciting news about when production will commence.
What are the details?
In the most recent installment of The Hot Mic podcast, insider Jeff Sneider confirmed speculations about the release date for Black Panther 3. According to his statement, it seems that the film is scheduled to come out in February 2028, with production starting as early as 2027. This would make Black Panther 3 the first Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie to be released after Secret Wars if this timeline holds true.
According to Sneider, “Black Panther 3” is scheduled for release in February 2028. Production is set to begin at the beginning of 2027, with the movie hitting theaters a year later in February 2028.
It appears that the upcoming date aligns with one of Marvel’s previously unnamed releases on February 18, 2028, which now seems to be earmarked for the third Wakanda movie. The original Black Panther was released on February 16, 2018, while Wakanda Forever, featuring Letitia Wright as Shuri taking over the mantle of Black Panther, hit theaters on November 11, 2022.
Follows Avengers: Secret Wars
Nate Moore, a former Marvel producer, has mentioned that Black Panther 3 won’t be released until after the upcoming Avengers films. Given that Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled for 2026 and Secret Wars in 2027, it seems reasonable to expect Black Panther 3 to come out in 2028.
It has been officially announced that Ryan Coogler will return as director, and Denzel Washington is set to appear in an unspecified role. There are strong whispers suggesting Damson Idris might take on the mantle of Black Panther, but it remains uncertain whether he would portray T’Challa himself, his son, or perhaps a different version of the character.
Marvel’s 2028 release schedule
In addition to Black Panther 3, Marvel currently has three more untitled films slated for 2028:
- May 5, 2028
- November 10, 2028
- December 15, 2028 (recently added)
Those could end up being for the X-Men or something else entirely.
