Bitcoin Bonanza: Japanese Firm Metaplanet Leaves Coinbase in the Dust! 🚀💰

So, guess what? The Japanese hotel and investment firm Metaplanet (MTPLF) has decided to play a little game of “who can hoard the most Bitcoin” and has officially outdone Coinbase! Yes, you heard that right! 🎉

In a shocking twist of events, Metaplanet has added a whopping 1,112 BTC to its collection, bringing its grand total to 10,000 BTC. That’s right, folks, they’re now the ninth-largest holder of Bitcoin among public companies. Who knew hotels could be so good at investing? 🏨💸

According to the latest gossip from BitcoinTreasuries.net, Coinbase is sitting pretty with just 9,267 Bitcoin. That’s 733 fewer than Metaplanet! Ouch! Talk about a crypto burn! 🔥

And just to keep things interesting, the reigning champion of Bitcoin hoarding is still Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) with a jaw-dropping 592,100 Bitcoin. I mean, can we get a round of applause for that level of commitment? 👏

Metaplanet’s CEO, Simon Gerovich, had this to say:

“We’ve acquired 1,112 BTC for around $117.2 million at about $105,435 per Bitcoin, achieving a BTC yield of 266.1% year to date 2025. As of June 16, 2025, we hold 10,000 BTC acquired for approximately $947 million at about $94,697 per Bitcoin.”

In 2024, they decided to jump on the Bitcoin bandwagon as part of their “Bitcoin Treasury strategy.” Because why not? The aim is to reach 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026. Gerovich has even confessed that he “worries every day” about not having enough Bitcoin. Talk about a serious case of FOMO! 😱

“The window to buy won’t stay open forever. Soon, there will be two kinds of people: those who own Bitcoin and those who regret not buying it. At Metaplanet, we’re accumulating as much as we can so our shareholders can relax.”

And as if that wasn’t enough, Metaplanet is also planning to renovate a Tokyo hotel and rebrand it as “the Bitcoin Hotel.” Because nothing says luxury like a room with a view of your crypto portfolio! 🏨💎
