Bill Cosby has issued a statement following the unexpected demise of Malcolm-Jamal Warner, his TV son from “The Cosby Show,” who tragically drowned in Costa Rica at the age of 54 on Monday. Known to many as Theo Huxtable, Warner passed away.

As reported by ABC News, Warner found himself swept up in a powerful ocean tide during a leisurely swim on his family trip.

The local law enforcement officials reported that Warner passed away due to suffocation. Despite bystanders at the beach attempting to assist him and rescue crews arriving promptly, they were unable to save him. Later, Costa Rican authorities positively identified his body.

During an interview with ABC News, Cosby reminisced about his interactions with Warner. He recalled him as a dedicated worker who valued his job greatly. “He was an exceptional student,” Cosby stated, “and I found it enjoyable to collaborate with him.

Cosby revealed that despite the end of their popular series, his connection with Warner remained robust. He said they often speak on the phone, reminiscent of a bond he shared with his own grandfather. Moreover, Cosby disclosed that the character Theo was modeled after his late son, Ennis.

Cosby emphasized further on Warner’s commitment as a performer. “He was incredibly professional,” Cosby reminisced. “He always had his lines memorized, he always knew what scene he was supposed to be in, and he always arrived prepared.

Initially, Malcolm-Jamal Warner gained widespread recognition for portraying Theo Huxtable across eight seasons, a performance that landed him an Emmy nomination.
