I’m quite confident that 2025 will be an exciting year for gaming, given the announcements from Summer Game Fest and State of Play. Yet, there’s another event that catches my attention – the Xbox Games Showcase. To put it simply, most of the anticipation stems from the hope of catching a glimpse of The Elder Scrolls 6 footage.
It’s possible that we might catch a first look at The Elder Scrolls 6 this year since Bethesda has announced they will stream an event. Previously, in 2023, they used this method to unveil Starfield, so my expectations are high. Additionally, there may be news about Arcane’s Blade too, but for now, let’s concentrate on The Elder Scrolls 6 first.
Bethesda streaming the Xbox Games Showcase 2025 gives hope for seeing The Elder Scrolls 6

It’s clear that nearly everyone is eagerly anticipating the release of “The Elder Scrolls 6“, but there’s a lot of uncertainty about what Bethesda has been cooking up for this game. Some are worried that they might have made mistakes like with “Starfield“, and the fact that it’s taking so long only adds to the suspense. These unanswered questions seem to be making the wait even more agonizing, and only Bethesda can put an end to our curiosity.
It’s my suspicion that our burning desire to learn more will be satisfied during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. This belief stems from the fact that a trailer for The Elder Scrolls 6 was unveiled about six years ago without any subsequent updates. The release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered could simply be a strategic move to excite fans, a theory I once entertained (perhaps you’ve picked up on my past tendencies towards conspiracy).
In 2023, after its initial unveiling in 2018, the highly-anticipated game Starfield was finally released. Given the difficulties presented by the pandemic, there was a gap of nearly five years between its reveal and release. Upon closer inspection, it’s been approximately six years since the first announcement. Here’s hoping we’ll see a trailer soon and learn about its release date.
There’s no clear information about how long TES 6 has been in progression, but it’s safe to say that it hasn’t been as long as GTA 6. According to IGN’s reports, the project started in 2023 and has since then gone on for three years. Despite being under production, we should anticipate a trailer release at some point, considering even Rockstar, known for its secrecy, has released trailers in the past!
It’s possible that Bethesda might follow in Rockstar’s footsteps by lowering fan anticipation. The year 2026 seems poised for significant game launches, such as Silent Hill and Pragmata, among others. This could be an opportunity for Bethesda to jump into the fray and create a surprise. Given that production started in 2023, however, it might not be until 2027 before we see their new release.
What do we know about The Elder Scrolls 6?
So far, Bethesda has only shown us a brief 40-second teaser video filled with rocks and greenery. But don’t let that dampen your spirits too much! There are some reasonable assumptions we can make. Some fans believe that “The Elder Scrolls 6” could be set in Hammerfell, as this region has a strong following among fans. Additionally, the trailer seems to suggest the geographical layout of the potential location.
In addition to Hammerfell, there’s speculation that High Rock could also appear on the map for the upcoming TES 6. If this turns out to be true, it would mark the first time a single The Elder Scrolls game includes two significant provinces of Tamriel. It’s an intriguing idea, and while it’s just speculation now, with the rapid pace of technological advancement, it might become a reality in the future!
There’s talk pointing towards The Elder Scrolls 6 being an exclusive for Xbox at first, eventually making its way to PlayStation. This highly anticipated game could tip the scales in favor of Xbox, though it’s plausible. However, it’s important to note that Oblivion Remastered was released simultaneously across all platforms, so these leaks might not be entirely accurate.
I truly look forward to possibly catching a glimpse of The Elder Scrolls 6 during the Xbox Games Showcase 2025. Given that PlayStation seemed to drop the ball this time around with no significant showings of titles like Wolverine, Spider-Man, or The Last of Us, it’s possible that Xbox could steal the spotlight if they highlight some of their biggest franchises. At least for the year 2025, it could be a victory for them in terms of gaming events.
