DDG and Halle Bailey have chosen to go their individual paths. On Thursday, October 3, the rapper announced their split through an Instagram Story.

Following thoughtful consideration and heartfelt discussions, Halle and I have chosen to part ways separately. This decision wasn’t simple, but we feel it’s the most suitable option for each of us. The moments we’ve experienced together and the affection we’ve exchanged hold great value for me.

In January 2022, the hip-hop artist from Calabasas, known for his Moonwalking, and the actress famous for her role as The Little Mermaid, made their relationship public. In September of the same year, she shared that she has admired Black creators on YouTube for a long time, with DDG being one of those she admired.

During an interview with Essence for their feature piece, Bailey casually mentioned that she’d completely overlooked him until his return to music caught her eye, particularly one particular track. It so happened that he reached out to her then, and as she put it, “the rest is history.

In the latter part of 2023, Bailey and DDG became parents to a baby boy named Halo. They shared this joyous news in January, and then unveiled his adorable face to their followers in July.

Regardless of their separation, DDG insists that they will continue to be “deep friends” and harbor much affection for each other, as they traverse the path of co-parenting together.

In the same month, Bailey shared on Snapchat about the intense postpartum depression she faced in her new motherhood role. She mentioned that it’s difficult for her to be apart from her baby for over half an hour as she experiences panic attacks. Additionally, the 24-year-old actress disclosed that she cries when looking at her son due to his extraordinary significance in her life.

Last week, DDG and Bailey went to Usher’s Past Present Future Tour in Los Angeles together. Given that, it seems their recent separation announcement might not make complete sense right now. Although DDG has asked fans for patience and understanding as they go through this change, people will undoubtedly be eager to hear more from Bailey about the situation, since she hasn’t publicly addressed the breakup yet.
