Berghaus Has Relaunched ‘That’ Jacket – the One Made Famous by Liam Gallagher

Kicking off their much awaited “Live ’25” reunion tour this month, Oasis marked their return 16 years after the Gallagher brothers’ public falling-out that eventually split the band apart. With an influence on British culture in the 90s that can hardly be overstated, Oasis shaped a generation not only through their music, but also with their unique style. From bucket hats to Burberry checks and fishtail parkas to polo shirts buttoned up, Oasis’ fashion became synonymous with Britpop: a blend of classic mod style, football terrace sartorialism, and the distinctive attitude of Manchester, which encapsulated a significant moment in British music that echoed far beyond the UK.

Over time, Berghaus – the British clothing company with a name suggesting German origins – consistently found itself amongst the trendsetters. In the year 1997, during an Oasis concert in Oslo, Liam Gallagher made an entrance wearing a striking red Meru jacket from Berghaus. Known for his love of long parkas and bold outerwear, Liam’s choice that night, immortalized in a now-famous photograph, significantly boosted the brand’s popularity among both devoted Oasis fans and fashion enthusiasts.

Currently, Berghaus is commemorating a special occasion by re-introducing the Meru jacket in the same color scheme Liam wore, as part of their Concert Collection. This collection, which is limited edition, also includes two other classic Berghaus items from their archive. The Meru jacket, introduced in 1994 and now available in three colors – “Red/Blue” (Liam’s pick), “Purple/Grey”, and “Green/Black” – is being reintroduced.

Additionally, Berghaus is bringing back the Trango jacket, a heavy-duty waterproof jacket from 1986 that they refer to as a “specialized powerhouse”. The Trango jacket boasts a triple layer of GORE-TEX for optimal protection against wind and water, and comes in three color options – “Red/Blue”, “Red/Grey”, and “Grey/Dark Blue”.

To complement these jackets, Berghaus is introducing the 1997 Fleece, a new addition to their range despite its name suggesting otherwise. They describe it as a “staple piece with the DNA of an icon”. The fleece features a boxy cut for enhanced comfort, and will be available in colors including “Red/Blue”, “Red/Grey”, and “Green/Grey”.

You can now purchase the complete “Concert Collection” from Berghaus’ official site, with costs commencing at around £120 GBP or approximately $162 USD.
