Benj Pasek And Justin Paul Joins EGOT Club After Winning Emmy For THIS Only Murders In The Building S3 Track

As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for both music and entertainment, I must say that the recognition of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul as the newest members of the EGOT club at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmys is nothing short of exhilarating! Their talent, creativity, and versatility have been consistently showcased through their impressive body of work, from La La Land to Dear Evan Hansen.

What a just reward for some undeniable skill! The gifted songwriters, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, have now joined an exclusive club – the EGOT club – at the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

On Sunday, the gifted pair received an Emmy award in the category of Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics. Their catchy hit, titled “Which of the Pickwick Triplets Did It?”, was from the third season of the acclaimed Hulu comedy series, Only Murders in the Building.

In the third season, episode 8 titled “Sitzprobe,” they collaborated with the renowned duo Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman to adapt the tricky tune ‘patter’ song, which Steve Martin’s character Charles sang for the made-up show within a show, Death Rattle Dazzle.

Previously, the duo Pasek and Paul were awarded an Oscar in 2016 for “City of Stars” from La La Land, a Tony Award in 2017, and a Grammy in 2018 for Dear Evan Hansen.

As a devotee, I found it exhilarating to delve back into the timeless art form of musical theater, drawing from my theatrical roots alongside Pasek. In episode 8, we were challenged with the intricate task of composing a demanding song brimming with alliteration and tongue-twisting rhythms.

When the intricate personalities break into song at the finale, as they decipher puzzles and approach the solutions they’ve been seeking, it feels like a triumph.

Additionally, the pair admitted they found it both a privilege and a task to compose for Martin, as they recognized his exceptional musical skills as a performer and composer. They expressed this sentiment to Entertainment Weekly, stating, “We understood that he’s a talented musician, so we believed he could handle everything.

The twosome acknowledged that they faced the challenge of maintaining high standards since Martin is recognized as one of the most gifted entertainers in our current time. Consequently, they aimed to create something uniquely impressive that would cater to his multifaceted role as a musician, performer, vocalist, and comedian.

OMITB season 4 is currently releasing new episodes every Tuesday of the week on Hulu.
