For a while now, Ben Affleck and Tom Brady have been close friends, and the actor has often spoken fondly of his friendship with the famous football player. In a recent podcast interview alongside Jason and Travis Kelce, Affleck discussed how he actually got to practice passing plays (or “routes”) with the seven-time Super Bowl winner. Intrigued by this statement, the former Philadelphia Eagles player inquired about the type of passes Affleck was referring to.
To your query, the father of three candidly admitted, “I’m not going to deceive you. As for their name, I’m unsure about it. However, I can say with confidence that I probably disappointed every player who ever took the field. Yet, apart from the births of my children, that day remains one of the most remarkable in my life.
During a discussion about the incident, Affleck mentioned that they were both on vacation at the same place, and he needed someone to throw a ball with. He jokingly added, “I thought I was doing him such a favor.” It seemed like Brady might have responded, “I’m going to utterly outshine this guy. And when we arrived, he initially told me to go outside, turn around a few times.
The actor went on saying, “So, I said, ‘Okay,’ and I sprinted as hard as possible, then turned back. I saw him standing there, he’d been waiting 45 minutes. I managed to catch the ball because I was more worried about breaking my nose than anything else. Then, after a few throws, he suggested we add some air to the ball. I responded, ‘No, no, it’s fast enough already.’
In simpler terms, the actor shared that Brady instructed him to act like it was the final moments of the game with just a few seconds left on the clock. Affleck revealed that the sportsman simply told him to keep running.
On another note, it’s not a new thing for Affleck to sing praises of Brady. In fact, back in 2020, he labeled Brady as the most exceptional football player the world has ever seen.
