There’s chatter suggesting that the star of The Last of Us, Bella Ramsey, might be under consideration for a significant part in the Marvel universe. At this point, specifics are scarce, but considering her past roles, it seems plausible she could potentially join the X-Men team.
Who could Bella Ramsey play in the MCU?
Online enthusiasts are already mulling over the possibility that Bella Ramsey might be a strong contender for the role of Morph, a character who first appeared in the initial X-Men animated series and reappeared recently on the Disney+ X-Men ’97 program.
In the ‘X-Men’ series from 1997, Morph was reimagined as a non-binary character who prefers gender-neutral pronouns. This aligns with Ramsey’s personal beliefs and identity, as she uses they/them pronouns and identifies as not strictly heterosexual. In ‘The Last of Us’, her character is also portrayed as a lesbian.
If Morph isn’t the choice, there’s been plenty of fan art depicting Bella Ramsey as Rogue. It’s plausible to argue that her character in The Last of Us shares similar complexities and emotional depth with Rogue. Moreover, it appears that LGBQT+ characters are scarce in this post-apocalyptic universe, much like how Rogue is often left solitary due to her unique mutation, where she transfers her powers to anyone she touches.
A potential addition to the X-Men could be Kitty Pryde, who was portrayed by transgender actor Elliot Page in the initial Fox X-Men films. Known as Shadowcat, Kitty Pryde possesses the ability to pass through solid objects like walls and floors, rendering her body intangible. She can also phase others and interfere with electronics by moving through them.
Feige vs Iger: winner takes all
Kevin Feige has confirmed the new age of mutants kicks off following Avengers: Secret Wars.
There have been whispers suggesting that Feige has had disagreements with Disney CEO Bob Iger regarding the approach for the X-Men within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s suggested that Feige prefers to maintain the social commentary style he adopted after Endgame, but Iger apparently desires the X-Men in the MCU to be more action-packed and blockbuster-style, akin to films like Deadpool, Wolverine, and The Avengers.
MCU Rumors Suggest New Direction After Secret Wars
There’s chatter suggesting that transgender actor Hunter Schafer might join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). If any of these rumored castings prove accurate, it’ll give us a hint about where Kevin Feige intends to steer the MCU post-“Secret Wars”.
Black actors are also rumored for both Professor X and Magneto.
What’s next for the X-Men?
As of now, there’s no formal announcement about the upcoming X-Men movie, lacking both a title and a release date. Michael Lesslie, who penned “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” with Rachel Zegler in the lead role, is writing the script for this film. It’s been suggested that Jake Schreier, director of “Thunderbolts,” could be at the helm. Additionally, Tim Miller, the director of “Deadpool,” has expressed interest in the project as well.
The confirmed lineup for X-Men within the MCU encompasses characters from 20th Century Fox, who will appear in the film titled “Avengers: Doomsday“.
It’s official: The actors from the X-Men films under Fox, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden, are set to reappear in Avengers: Doomsday. Additionally, Channing Tatum returns as Gambit, who previously appeared in both Deadpool and a film featuring Wolverine.
Ryan Reynolds also recently revealed he is in the early stages of a new Deadpool and X-Men film.
