This method has proven successful for Marvel, Brie Larson, The Acolyte, Halo, and others, including Bella Ramsey. Now, she is not shy about responding to criticism directed towards HBO’s The Last of Us Season 2 and the forthcoming Season 3.
She tells fans if you don’t like it, don’t watch it.
Ramsey’s Response to Backlash
During a recent chat on The Awardist podcast, Ramsey addressed fans who felt disappointed with the series’ progression, particularly the contentious plotline derived from the second installment of the game.
She suggested, “You’re not obligated to watch it. If you truly dislike it, feel free to play the game once more instead. However, if you choose to watch it, I hope you find pleasure in it.
As a movie enthusiast, I must confess that Season 2’s decisions have sparked quite the debate amongst viewers. Many are displeased with the turn of events like Joel’s untimely demise and the divisive flashback episode, which some argue significantly tarnished his character development.
Creative Changes Behind the Scenes
Ramsey’s statement comes at a time of uncertainty for the series.
Halley Gross, a writer for The Last of Us Part II and a producer on the show, has decided to leave the project. Her departure comes after Neil Druckmann, who was in a creative role for Season 3, also stepped away.
As the two primary narrators are absent, viewers are wondering to what extent Season 3 will adhere to the source material and how showrunner Craig Mazin will guide the adaptation’s direction.
The Fan Divide
The second season faced strong criticism online, causing some viewers to stop watching, while others stood by its loyalty to the original game. However, it seems that Ramsey is growing impatient with the persistent negative feedback, responding defensively towards critics who persistently criticize both the series and its actors.
What’s Next
In simple terms, Season 3 of “The Last of Us” is likely to follow on from Part II, and Abby, played by Kaitlyn Dever, will be a major character. Whether viewers will stay with the series is uncertain, but creator Neil Druckmann, or Ramsey as he’s sometimes known, has made it clear that this show isn’t for everyone.
It’s also unclear if The Last of Us has a future after its third season.
