On various instances, the “Jennifer Hudson Show’s” emotional “spirit tunnels” resonated deeply with viewers and trended widely online. This week, the program marked an impressive achievement by airing its 500th episode, a significant milestone for Jennifer Hudson, who holds the prestigious EGOT title.
In an interview with People, Hudson discussed a lively custom that’s gone viral on social media. She explained that the energetic impromptu performances in the hallway started as a backstage activity and eventually became a significant aspect that enhances the show’s allure.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I must share an intriguing observation from my favorite show: A multitude of stars who graced our screens have gained immense popularity due to their unique journeys through the renowned tunnel. My dear friend Penn Badgley, the charismatic Joe Goldberg, undeniably sent the internet into a frenzy with his unforgettable tunnel scene. Not to be outshone, the captivating Brenda Song, from The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, also experienced her viral moment within this very same architectural marvel.
A variety of well-known figures including Michelle Obama (former First Lady), Benny Blanco, Angela Bassett, Gwen Stefani, Tia Mowry, among others, have each had unique encounters with the Spirit Tunnel.
To start with, the Spirit Tunnel originated as an energizing tradition among the staff backstage, aimed at pumping up Hudson prior to the performance. This involved walking down a passageway while the team chanted and cheered in support. Fueled by this energy, Hudson opted to include this special moment within the show itself.
She aimed at establishing a cheerful, inclusive environment for both attendees and spectators, filled with safety and jubilation. Upon entry, guests walk down a runway reminiscent of Soul Train, where staff members perform customized songs, creating an atmosphere brimming with positivity before they reach the stage.
Hudson expressed, “If you feel like joining a spiritual dance, when it feels right to you, then that’s exactly what I aimed to provide – a secure environment where everyone can participate. Fortunately, we’ve been given the opportunity to experience this together.
Ranging from impromptu sprints down the hallways to boisterous choruses, the tunnel has evolved into a symbolic and motivational aspect of the performance. She affectionately refers to it as a “happy haven,” a space grounded in sincerity and unity.
Hudson explained to The Hollywood Reporter that it’s crucial for us to reveal the unique energy contained within the Spirit Tunnel, as well as the special location known as the Happy Place, so that people can grasp its significance.
Right now, the Jennifer Hudson Show is in its third season, marking the broadcast of its 500th episode, a significant milestone!
