Deadpool (2016)

To truly understand the charismatic and witty Deadpool character, nothing beats watching his backstory unfold on screen. This film is a must-see for fans of Deadpool as it covers his entire origin, revealing not only who Wade Wilson is but also how he became Deadpool, where he got his name, and the reason behind his creation.

In addition to Deadpool, this film introduces two other significant characters: Venessa, who is Deadpool’s romantic interest, and Negasonic Teenage Warhead. The massive figure you’ll encounter in the movie is also noteworthy.

Deadpool 2 (2018)

In this installment, you’ll meet some fresh and extraordinary characters including Juggernaut, Domino, and Cable. It’s definitely worth watching as Deadpool and Wolverine discuss numerous pivotal moments.

X-Men (2000)

During this period, the world underwent significant transformation. Bryan Singer’s introduction of X-Men to humanity represented an exceptional gift. Prepare to be captivated as we delve into the tale of mutants.

In this movie, you’ll be acquainted with the primary X-Men characters, including Charles Xavier, Jean Grey, Storm, Cyclops, and Wolverine. Notably, Wolverine introduces Rogue, another mutant, to the group as well.

On the flip side, be ready to get intrigued by characters such as Magneto, and his brotherhood.

X2: X-Men United (2003)

In the beginning of this epic film from 2000, Nightcrawler makes his appearance as yet another significant mutant introduced from the comic books.

In a comparable fashion, the film introduces an extensive roster of potent mutants including Colossus, Kitty Pride, and others. Additionally, Pyro makes an appearance in X2: X-Men United, who is featured alongside Deadpool and Wolverine as hinted in the trailers.

Iceman, Beast, and more characters also hold an important place in this film. 

X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)

Greetings, I’m your friendly lifestyle expert here, and I’d be happy to share some insights about a fascinating character from the X-Men universe: myself, I’d welcome you to meet the Dark Phoenix. Now, although you may be familiar with Jean Grey’s transformative alter ego, the Phoenix, allow me to introduce you to her darker counterpart. The Dark Phoenix represents Jean when she is no longer in control of her own powers and emotions – a side of her that is both more complex and more dangerous.

In this film, she mercilessly takes lives, including those of her closest companions. The villains introduced include Juggernaut, historically Wolverine’s greatest adversary, as well as Arclight, Spike, and Angel.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)

The 2016 Deadpool film won our hearts over, but he had made an appearance earlier in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In that movie, we saw the compelling origin stories of some of X-Men’s most revered figures, including Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine.

In addition, Ryan Reynolds significantly contributed with his portrayal of an imperfect Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. This film introduced several new characters including Sabretooth, Silver Fox, Gambit, Blob, and others.

Despite Wolverine’s compelling background portrayed in the film, some fans failed to connect with it. Yet, this movie is significant as it may contain crucial plot points that are essential to understanding Deadpool and Wolverine’s stories.

X-Men: First Class (2011)

If you encounter Cassandra Nova, the wicked sibling of Charles Xavier, in the company of Deadpool and Wolverine, it’s essential to be aware of the backstory of the person who assembled the X-Men team. In X-Men: First Class, we meet the younger versions of Professor X, Magneto, Cyclops’ older brother Havok, Banshee, Darwin, Emma Frost, and Kevin Bacon portraying Sebastian Shaw. Notably, Azazel was also part of Shaw’s squad.

The film explores the transformation of Magneto’s friendship with the telepathic prodigy into an unending conflict.

Azazel happens to be another mutant who will be appearing in Deadpool & Wolverine. 

Logan (2017)

Logan presents the character of X-23, acted by Dafne Keen, who returns in the forthcoming film. For a deeper understanding of her background, be sure to watch Logan – the film where this story unfolds about Old Man Logan.

The Avengers (2012)

In joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s essential to get an introductory glimpse into the renowned superhero squad, albeit concise yet impactful. This film is indispensable, alongside Thor (2011), for fully grasping Loki’s character and significance. His presence and narrative will significantly influence Deadpool and Wolverine’s stories.

Avengers: Infinity War (2018)

To fully appreciate Avengers: Endgame and its connection to Deadpool and Wolverine, it’s essential to first watch Avengers: Infinity War. The occurrences in Infinity War significantly influence the storylines of these other Marvel Cinematic Universe films.

Avengers: Endgame (2019) 

As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about how Avengers: Endgame paved the way for the intriguing introduction of the Time Variance Authority (TVA) and some mind-blowing time-travel mishaps. This well-known character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) set off a chain reaction that required the TVA to intervene and prevent irreversible damage.

Loki (season 1: 2021 and season 2: 2023) 

The Disney+ show “Loki” offers much to discuss about Loki, Thor’s sibling, and delves deeply into the enigmatic Time Variance Authority (TVA). Some characters from this series are set to appear in the upcoming Deadpool movie as well.

So do study this one particularly.
