Beau DeMayo’s Lawyer Accuses Disney of Gaslighting Amid Serious Allegations, Hints at Legal Action

As a fervent admirer of storytelling and character development, I have always been captivated by Beau DeMayo’s work, particularly his exceptional contributions to the X-Men ’97 series. However, recent events have cast a troubling shadow over his professional life, making me question the industry we all so dearly love.

Recently, I’ve been in the limelight not just due to my work on the hit series X-Men ’97, but also because of an unexpected turn of events. A few months ago, I was let go from my role as showrunner and head writer for the show, surprisingly close to its premiere.

Without DeMayo or the company providing any initial explanation for his termination, his more recent allegations against them have ignited a flurry of speculation among many.

As a long-time fan of Disney productions, it has been disheartening to learn about the recent allegations against one of their writers, DeMayo. Over the years, I have admired the creative work that Disney produces and the positive impact it has on children and families around the world. However, the disturbing reports of DeMayo’s inappropriate behavior towards young staffers and other employees is a reminder that even those who work behind the scenes can abuse their power and create a toxic workplace environment.

Attorney Bryan Freedman, famed for dealing with significant wrongful dismissal matters in Tinseltown, currently stands as legal counsel for DeMayo. In a statement directed at Deadline, Freedman accuses Disney of orchestrating a gaslighting tactic against his client and the general public.

In Disney’s case, the playbook is consistently repeated. It presents a friendly family image on the surface, but behind the scenes, it tries to covertly insert unethical and potentially illegal clauses into contracts that suppress the truth and prevent employees or customers from exercising their fundamental rights. We will illustrate this pattern by providing specific examples, one after another, to make Disney’s approach crystal clear: a repeated, unlawful strategy. When confronted with challenges or revelations, Disney’s response often involves gaslighting and shifting the blame onto those who speak the truth. This is accomplished through an efficient international public relations machine. Beau DeMayo seeks nothing more from Marvel/Disney than transparency, and he is prepared to reveal the truth courageously. I too will do so. Stay tuned.

DeMayo’s attorney chose not to dispute or clear up the allegations or results of the internal probe in their statement, suggesting that a lawsuit might be imminent.
