The BBC has just released a first look at its upcoming TV series based on ‘Lord of the Flies,’ and it’s already generating buzz. The four-episode show will premiere in the UK on Sunday, February 8th, according to the network.
The new series starts Sundays at 9pm on BBC One. If you prefer to watch all episodes at once, they’ll be available on BBC iPlayer immediately after the first episode airs. The show is a collaboration with Australian broadcaster Stan, and Sony Pictures Television will handle international distribution beyond the UK and Australia.
The first trailer has been released for a new live-action adaptation of ‘Lord of the Flies.’ The series is written by Jack Thorne, who also co-created the show ‘Adolescence.’

This adaptation of Lord of the Flies was written by Jack Thorne, drawing from William Golding’s classic novel. It tells the story of a group of schoolboys stranded on a deserted island after a shipwreck. Left to their own devices without any adult supervision, they attempt to build a society, but quickly lose control.
The trailer begins with the boys attempting to remain calm and cooperate, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and mutual support – one character states, “We need to think about food and shelter. We need to help each other and be good camp mates.” However, the hopeful atmosphere soon shifts as fear and conflicts for control emerge.
Winston Sawyers plays Ralph, who initially leads the group, while David McKenna portrays Piggy, the voice of reason. Lox Pratt plays Jack, who quickly begins to compete with Ralph for power, prioritizing hunting and control. As conflict grows, the boys start to betray each other and their moral compasses begin to fail.
The show features a cast of over 30 young performers, including Ike Talbut as Simon, Thomas Connor as Roger, and twins Noah and Cassius Flemming playing Sam and Eric. Marc Munden directed the series, and Callum Devrell-Cameron produced it. Cristobal Tapia de Veer composed the music, with Hans Zimmer and Kara Talve creating the main theme. Lindsay Salt, head of drama at the BBC, commissioned the project.
