‘Batman’ (1989) and ‘Batman Returns’ Return to Theaters in Dolby Cinema for One Night Only

Enthusiasts of Batman can look forward to a unique opportunity as the movies ‘Batman’ (1989) and ‘Batman Returns’ (1992) will be shown in cinemas once more. This special screening is set for one night only, on August 25, and will be available exclusively at over 160 Dolby Cinema theaters within the U.S.

For the very first time, these newly enhanced films will be displayed with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos technology, offering improved visual clarity and a more enveloping audio experience.

Enhancing the visual experience, Dolby Vision delivers deeper blacks and improved contrast, accentuating Tim Burton’s dark, atmospheric portrayal of Gotham City. Meanwhile, Dolby Atmos amplifies the audio, imbuing the Batmobile’s thunderous rumble and Danny Elfman’s iconic score with fresh intensity.

Tim Burton, the filmmaker, described the experience as “truly novel and thrilling.” He added that viewing his Batman movies at such high-quality visual and audio levels made them seem brand new and invigorating.

Burton had not seen these movies since he created them, but watching them once more with such exceptional detail, vibrancy, color, and audio quality was an entirely novel and thrilling experience for him. The magic of Dolby Atmos and Vision truly breathed new life into the films.
