As a huge superhero movie fan, I always thought Batman had the most interesting villains – seriously, the rogues gallery is incredible! Joker, Penguin, Catwoman, Harley Quinn… they’re as famous as Batman himself. But Gotham is full of bad guys, and a lot of them never get their moment in the spotlight, even in cartoons. That’s why I’m excited about the new animated series, Bat-Fam, on Prime Video. It’s a comedy aimed at families, and it sounds like they’re going to give some of those lesser-known Gotham villains a chance to shine.
As reported by Comic Book, the new animated comedy series Bat-Fam continues the story from the 2023 movie Merry Little Batman. Luke Wilson voices Batman, and his son Damian Wayne isn’t Robin in this series – he’s known as “Little Batman.” Veteran actor James Cromwell plays Alfred. While Merry Little Batman featured famous villains from Arkham Asylum, Bat-Fam will focus on lesser-known bad guys who don’t often get the chance to shine outside of the comics. One such villain is Man-Bat, voiced by Bobby Moynihan.
The first season of Bat-Fam will include villains like Killer Moth, Copperhead, King Tut, Solomon Grundy, and the Mad Hatter. While King Tut originated in the 1960s Batman TV show, many of these characters haven’t had a major film or television appearance. Some, like Livewire and Toyman, are usually Superman’s foes, but they’ve also battled Batman before. And Giganta is well-known as a Wonder Woman villain. Though some of these villains might eventually appear in live-action adaptations, this series gives them a chance to shine. The 10-episode first season of Bat-Fam is now available on Prime Video, alongside the more classic Batman: Caped Crusader series.
