+ Good for stacking chains
+ Strong single target damage
+ Both of Eris’s costumes are good
- Amplification is on the main target only, low damage on other targets
- Powercrept by Young Lady Blade who has better damage and range
- Limited collab costume, which means she is unlikely to get stronger in the future.
Eris for PVE
Cat Eris deals good damage to the main target, and low damage to other targets.
Okay, so I fully upgraded her skills to +5, and honestly, the damage isn’t amazing. It’s 5 times 80%, which comes out to 400% before we even factor in any chain damage bonuses. It’s… underwhelming, to be honest. I was expecting a bit more punch.
Cat Eris significantly increases damage against the primary target, boosting their vulnerability by 150%. However, despite this large damage boost, Cat Eris doesn’t perform exceptionally well in challenging end-game content. Let’s explore the reasons why.
Without considering other effects, Cat Eris would deal a significant 1,000% damage to the primary target before any chain reactions, making it a very powerful ability.
In Battle Dungeon 2 (BD2), it’s important to consider all active buffs when figuring out your total power for challenging content. Unlike some games where similar buffs multiply, buffs in BD2 simply add together. This means that adding more of the same type of buff doesn’t give you as much of an increase as you might expect – you’ll see less and less benefit with each additional buff.
For example:
- If the boss has a 100% vulnerability debuff (e.g. from Game Club Rafina), then Cat Eris deals a total of: 5 x 80% x (100% base +150% Cat Eris debuff +100% Game Club Rafina debuff) = 1,400% ex chain damage
- So in this scenario, Cat Eris effectively has the same power level as a 700% damage skill, because 700% x (100%+100%) = 1,400%.
As a further example, say the boss has a 200% vulnerability debuff:
- Cat Eris deals a total of: 5 x 80% x (100% base +150% Cat Eris debuff +200% boss debuff) = 1,800% ex chain damage
- So in this scenario, Cat Eris effectively has the same power level as a 600% damage skill, because 600% x (100%+200%) = 1,800%.
Cat Eris’s damage decreases as enemies gain more vulnerability debuffs. Because players often apply multiple vulnerability buffs during challenging content, Cat Eris can deal solid damage (typically 600-700% is considered good), but she doesn’t outperform other powerful fire-based attackers.
Costume synergy
Cat Eris and Esteemed Adventurer Eris work well together, but in different ways. Cat Eris excels at building long chains of attacks, while Esteemed Adventurer Eris is a powerful single-hit ability best used in teams focused on few attacks.
It’s challenging to create a well-rounded team for Eris. Focusing on strong chain support options like PWB Refi or Onsen Liberta results in weaker damage during Eris’s Esteemed Adventurer phase. Conversely, prioritizing lower chain support, such as BA Teresse, leads to reduced damage during her Cat phase.
Game modes
Cat Eris is a powerful debuffer, weakening enemies with each hit and building up to five damaging chains. While she doesn’t deal a lot of damage herself, she significantly boosts the effectiveness of your other damage dealers. She’s particularly useful when facing single enemies or those with a single vulnerable spot, and excels at dealing fire damage.
She is also great as a chain stacker in Last Night.
Eris for PVP
Cat Eris isn’t a good choice for player-versus-player (PVP) battles. She costs a lot of energy to use (4 SP), but doesn’t have a big enough effect on the game. While she can be okay to start with on defense, at higher ranks (Diamond and above), players almost never use her because there are more effective cats available for the same energy cost.
Eris’s exclusive weapon
Before you invest in Eris, it’s crucial to know that her special equipment is available in limited quantities.
To get the most damage out of Eris, you need to level her up to +5 and get her special gear before the limited-time offer ends. Her unique gear boosts her attack by 45%, and if you don’t get it during this event, you might not have another chance to get that extra power.
Using top-tier equipment is generally a luxury, because it costs a lot of resources for only a small increase in damage output.
Conclusion
Cat Eris is a fire-type character similar to Young Lady Blade, but more limited. While she’s a decent fire damage dealer, many other characters can do more damage. The real strength of Cat Eris lies in her ability to boost the damage of a single target, which is helpful, though not always necessary, as single-target boss battles aren’t very common. When you *do* need that boost, though, she performs the job effectively.
Okay, so Eris is a collab character who’s only around for a limited time. If you really want to make her super strong, you’ve gotta spend a lot of resources, and fast. Her outfits are pretty good, yeah, but honestly, unless you’re a huge Mushoku Tensei fan, I wouldn’t blow all your tickets on them. Older collab characters tend to get overshadowed by newer, stronger ones eventually, so it’s probably not worth the big investment.
When investing, try to reach +4, as that’s the level needed to apply the maximum 150% vulnerability debuff.
