Olivier for PVE

In PVE, Olivier is one of the best light attackers, who has a highly synergistic 3 costume combo.

  • Firstly, Apostle Olivier provides a 80% M.ATK boost for 10 turns. It can be used pre-emptively at the start of the battle.
  • Secondly, Faithful Wings Olivier charges up your SP bar, whilst dealing “good but not great” damage.
  • Thirdly, Fallen Wings Olivier then drains your entire SP bar to deal massive AOE damage, based on the amount of SP used (up to 2,150% from a full SP bar).
  • After draining your SP bar, you then use Faithful Wings to recharge SP again.

The strategy involves switching between Faithful Wings and Fallen Wings while the Apostle’s buff lasts. Use Faithful Wings to prepare, and then Fallen Wings to deal significant damage.

Olivier’s newest costume, Retired Legend Olivier, isn’t as powerful as his Fallen Wings version. Even fully upgraded, it only deals 540% damage before any chain effects, and 675% with typical chain damage – which is relatively low compared to other current options. While it includes a 100% Magic Attack boost, stacking too many Magic Attack buffs reduces their overall effectiveness, meaning the actual damage output is only around average.

Fallen Wings remains Olivier’s primary attack costume because, when used effectively, it’s one of the most powerful skills in the game, potentially dealing up to 2,150% damage.

Retired Legend Olivier can therefore be used in two ways.

One effective way to use Retired Legend is to activate it right at the beginning of a battle. This sets up a significant boost to your magic attack. If you start by using Apostle Olivier, you can immediately follow with Retired Legend, giving Olivier a combined 180% magic attack increase. Then, for the next 10 turns, alternate between Faithful Wings and Fallen Wings to maximize your benefits.

You can also use Retired Legend after a battle is over, but this only applies to fiend hunts.

Olivier’s special ability, like Shadow Bunny Eleaneer’s, stays active even after he’s defeated. Because it’s a long-lasting buff that lasts for 10 turns, you can include Olivier in your first team for a fiend hunt and use his ability, Retired Legend, on the final turn of the battle. This ensures your second team enters the fight with a significant 100% Magic Attack boost for the next 8 turns. For players aiming for high scores in fiend hunts, Olivier will likely become a key character for strengthening magic-based teams.

Olivier is a top pick for Last Night because she consistently deals a lot of damage and also boosts her team’s magical abilities.

Olivier for PVP

I’ve been noticing Olivier is super popular for PvP defense teams lately, and for good reason! Her Apostle costume is one of the few that has an ability that goes off before the opponent’s turn, and she’s the only costume with pre-emptive evasion. That means she’s amazing at soaking up the first attack and any special skills the enemy team throws at you on Turn 1. It really throws off a lot of attackers!

Currently, Olivier doesn’t have strong options to use after his Apostle skill. Fallen Wings isn’t consistent because it requires a lot of Spirit Points to do significant damage – only about 450% with 3 SP. Faithful Wings is inexpensive at just 2 SP, but its damage output is quite low, around 350-400% even when hitting multiple enemies.

Retired Legend Olivier is a strong new character available after unlocking Apostle. While using him costs a lot of SP, his damage output in player-versus-player (PVP) combat is excellent – a significant improvement over Fallen Wings and Faithful Wings. Because of this, we anticipate seeing Olivier used frequently in competitive PVP.

Olivier’s exclusive gear

Olivier’s special weapon boosts his magical attack power, which is great for a damage dealer like him. However, like other unique items, it’s more of a bonus than a necessity. You don’t need to go out of your way to get it unless you’re striving for the highest scores in challenging events like fiend hunts and guild raids.

Conclusion

If you’re aiming for top scores in Fiend Hunts, Retired Legend Olivier is a great choice. Like Shadow Bunny Eleaneer, her special ability lets you put her on your first team to boost the damage of your second team, helping you achieve maximum results.

If you include Apostle Olivier on your PvP defense team, consider also getting Retired Legend. It offers stronger attacks after you play Apostle. While Retired Legend is expensive to unlock, it significantly outperforms Olivier’s other costumes in PvP damage.

Olivier is a solid hero, but not a must-have. She’s good at both boosting magic damage and dealing damage herself, and can contribute to chain attacks, but there are other heroes who can fill those roles just as well. Any of her other costumes are perfectly usable if you don’t have the Retired Legend version.

Get at least one costume level though, because a fated guest interaction has been announced.
