+ Gigantic damage when buffed up, especially with Nebris’s high offensive stats
+ Strong synergy with other costumes, which grant self-buffs
+ Good AOE and cost
- Needs time to set up
- Really needs investment in her other costumes
Because she benefits most from powerful enhancements, your team composition options are somewhat restricted.
- Poor performance in PVP where multiple buffs are not common
Nebris for PVE
Nebris is the most valuable character to unlock. With the right setup, she can be the most powerful damage dealer in the game.
When fully upgraded, Nebris receives an extra 30% of her attack power as damage with each hit. Because she hits three times, this adds up to a 90% damage increase for each buff she receives.
Nebris’s costumes work really well with her ‘New Hire’ skill because they all boost her stats. ‘Laid-Back Lifeguard’ gives her either a small attack boost for 10 turns or a damage boost for 2 turns. ‘Labyrinth Gatekeeper’ increases her damage or critical damage for 6 turns. By using these two costumes before ‘New Hire’, you can stack up to two beneficial buffs from Nebris’s own abilities, making her even stronger.
Besides Nebris’s abilities, your team’s support characters will be key to boosting your stats. Several costumes offer multiple buffs simultaneously. For instance, some costumes provide a variety of benefits, such as:
- Arines (crit buff + ATK buff)
- H.Lathel (2 ATK buffs on the first turn)
- MC.Teresse (ATK buff + heal buff)
- RH.Rou (crit buff + energy guard)
- G.Refi (Crit dmg buff + damage reduction buff)
- PWB.Refi (Chain buff + energy guard + property damage buff: 3 buffs!)
Note 1: Testing shows that Energy Guards count as buffs.
Interestingly, despite having two benefits – increased damage and a critical hit boost – AOTU.Diana’s buff only registers as one.
Teresse and Refi work really well with new player Nebris because they both provide helpful boosts to stats. Combining Teresse and Refi’s abilities over two turns can result in a significant total of 8 stat boosts!
Just how much damage can Nebris deal? The table below shows her potential damage output when fully upgraded with +5 enhancements (not including any extra damage from combos):
| Buffs | Damage (ex chain damage) |
| 3 | 510% |
| 4 | 600% |
| 5 | 690% |
| 6 | 780% |
| 7 | 870% |
| 8 | 960% |
| 9 | 1050% |
| 10 | 1140% |
| 11 | 1230% |
| 12 | 1320% |
By simply utilizing the built-in buffs from Teresse, Refi, and Nebris over two turns, New Hire Nebris can accumulate a total of 10 buffs (turn one focuses on Nebris alone, while turn two combines Nebris, Teresse, and Refi, followed by a powerful attack). This setup still allows room for two additional support characters who can boost the total buff count to 11 or 12. If the enemy boss provides buffs as well, you could even achieve an even higher number. The resulting damage is incredibly high.
It’s important to remember that stacking the same type of buff (like multiple attack boosts) isn’t as helpful as having a variety of different buffs. For example, using Arines, H.Lathel, and MC Teresse together isn’t ideal because they all focus on attack. You’d get better results by swapping Arines for someone like GC.Rafina or MB.Celia, even if it doesn’t increase the total number of buffs. Don’t prioritize simply increasing buff count with an ineffective team composition.
Nebris excels in longer PvE game modes like fiend hunts and guild raids, where players have time to prepare and build up their strengths. She’s less useful in quick battles because there isn’t enough time to fully utilize her abilities.
NH.Nebris is a strong choice for challenging content like the Tower of Jealousy and Tower of Wrath, but it works best when you have time to prepare, perhaps with a protector like New Hire Seir.
Comparison with Starlight Guardian Tyr
Okay, so when I’m pushing for really high-level wind content, Nebris has some tough competition from Tyr – she’s a wind character too. Honestly, Tyr’s Starlight Guardian skill is crazy powerful, dealing a whopping 1,400% damage! It’s a huge number and definitely makes her a strong contender.
Comparing the two, right now, Nebris is still better.
Nebris is currently stronger because she can switch between costumes every turn and use skills constantly. Tyr only has one costume right now, meaning she can’t use her skills as often – she has to wait a turn after each use. However, if Tyr gets another costume, she might become more powerful than Nebris.
It’s important to remember that comparing Nebris and Starlight Guardian based on damage numbers alone isn’t enough. Nebris’s other costumes give her extra boosts to her own attack power and critical hit damage. Plus, Nebris naturally has slightly stronger offensive stats. Because of all this, Nebris generally achieves a higher maximum damage output than Starlight Guardian Tyr.
One downside to using Nebris is its powerful attack has a longer cooldown – it can only be used every third turn. In comparison, Starlight Guardian Tyr’s similar attack is available more frequently, with a cooldown of just three turns.
Nebris and Tyr have different attack patterns. Nebris attacks in a straight, 6-tile line, while Tyr’s attack spreads out in a 9-tile cone. This means Tyr can more easily hit enemies with weak spots further away, especially bosses, but Nebris is better at hitting weak spots that are directly in front of them.
In summary:
| Nebris | Tyr |
| – Lower cost, better for low SP regen battles – Higher max damage (for now) – Better range for hitting weak points in the front |
– Lower cooldown on her big attack – Better range for hitting weak points in the back – Doesn’t take as long as Nebris to set up (Starlight Guardian can be used on Turn 1) |
Nebris for PVP
Even with three different costumes available, New Hire Nebris still isn’t very strong in Player vs. Player combat. Battles happen so quickly and it’s hard to build up enough advantages, leaving Nebris unable to reach their full potential.
Nebris, the Labyrinth Gatekeeper, is a strong defender who can attack entire columns of enemies. Once you’ve leveled up Nebris, the ‘New Hire’ costume is a great addition, significantly boosting your overall damage output thanks to the combined effects of both characters.
Conclusion
If you’re a fan of Nebris, you’ll definitely want the New Hire version. For those who already collect Nebris costumes, New Hire is essential – the previous two costumes were designed to maximize the power of New Hire’s special attack.
Nebris is most effective when you fully commit to her. To get the most out of her abilities, you really need to collect all of her costumes. She’s a character who rewards dedicated players!
