Banner Guide – Lovely Lady Elise

Official Patch Notes

Exclusive Gear

Overview

The only costume to reduce both DEF and M.RES, and one of the best AOE DEF shredders

Improved skill damage from recent balance patch

Base ATK is really too low (275) to be used as a main attacker

There are many other fire element attackers with better damage and range

Without investment in both costume levels and tears, she has a high SP cost.

You almost never need both DEF and M.RES reduction at the same time

Elise for PVE

In the December 2024 update, Lovely Lady Elise was given an enhancement to her balance, boosting her damage capacity significantly. Now, she inflicts damage equivalent to 3 times 220%, totaling 660%. This damage multiplier is considered strong and advantageous. With her plus-shaped area of effect that’s favorable, along with the upgraded damage multiplier, Elise becomes a reliable choice for any game mode.

Despite this, Elise suffers from 2 significant drawbacks.

As a gamer, I’ve noticed that many 5-star fire attackers boast a base ATK of around 352 at level 100, characters like Liatris and Rubia included. However, Elise falls short in this aspect, starting with just 275 base ATK. While her skill damage multiplier is impressive, it doesn’t quite make up for the significant difference in strength compared to other high-tier fire attackers.

The second issue lies in the abundance of fire-based combatants, as there exists an ample number of powerful fire attackers. In fact, fire has more attackers than any other element. To illustrate, characters like Loen, Levia, and Liatris possess superior fire attacking capabilities compared to Elise, with higher damage output and broader Area of Effect (AOE). Given the multitude of stronger fire options, Elise becomes less appealing as a fire attacker.

Consequently, Elise might not be the ideal primary attacker for your fire team. If you currently possess other fire attackers with superior damage and Area of Effect (AOE), then Elise serves a more effective role as a DEF/M.RES reducer. In the game, Elise is the sole costume that diminishes both DEF and M.RES. While typically you won’t require both defenses in the same battle, it’s beneficial to have one costume capable of doing so.

When it comes to decreasing Defense Effectiveness (DEF), Elise stands out among the best. Unlike Empress Rubia who can only reduce DEF by 45% at peak performance, Elise manages a superior 50%. Although Marauder Kry (4-star) also achieves a 50% DEF reduction, his area of effect is an X-shape, making him more suitable for dealing with various enemy formations compared to Elise.

Regarding the reduction of M.RES, Elise does a decent job, but given that she’s a physical attacker, she doesn’t gain from M.ATK buffs in a magic team. Consequently, it’s often less productive to include a physical attacker in a magic team. Instead, for optimal M.RES reduction, characters like DJ.Venaka or Samay might be more suitable choices, as they both provide a 50% M.RES shred.

In summary, Elise is generally suitable for any Player versus Environment (PVE) game mode, yet she doesn’t stand out in terms of exceptional abilities. However, she particularly shines in her role as an effective Defense shredder.

Elise for PVP

Elise does a decent job on defensive PVP teams, however, she lags behind some other costumes when it comes to effectively handling roles similar to hers.

Due to her Defense Shred ability, the character Elise, affectionately known as Lovely Lady Elise, consistently inflicts considerable damage at a reasonable cost of 3 SP. This defense shred compensates for her relatively low base attack, and she can be combined with H.Lathel or BA.Teresse to increase her offensive power even more.

When it comes to defeating DEF shredding enemies, Empress Rubia tends to be the more effective option. Rubia’s 6-hit combo excels at penetrating evasion abilities such as WC.Rou and PP.Justia, while her area of effect (AOE) is typically better at ensnaring multiple opponents. Furthermore, Rubia boasts superior follow-up costumes compared to Elise: Maid Rubia, who possesses evasion, is generally more advantageous for Player vs Player (PVP) than Code Name O Elise, which delivers a small area of effect attack.

As a gamer, it’s tough for me to pick Lovely Lady Elise over DJ Venaka when they cost the same SP. DJ Venaka, after all, slashes through 50% of M.RES, hits harder, and has a wider area of effect. Plus, the wind element that DJ Venaka possesses is quite beneficial in the current meta, considering there are water tanks like Glacia and Morphea, but no fire tanks around.

Elise therefore works well in lower ranks, but sees relatively little play in higher rank PVP.

Exclusive Gear

Given that Elise isn’t recognized as a powerful attacker and doesn’t stand out in any game mode, it might not be wise to invest your pulls on her exclusive equipment. Her exclusive gear boosts her ATK by 67 points, which slightly compensates for her low base ATK, but she still falls short of the average level.

Conclusion

At present, it’s advised against tugging on Elise’s banner. While she’s a versatile character overall, she doesn’t stand out in any specific role, except for certain battles where AOE Magic Resistance or Defense reduction are needed and 4-star Kry or Samay can’t be used. Even after the recent balance adjustments, her offensive power on her skill remains relatively low.

Keep in mind, if you haven’t met her yet, you can discover Lovely Lady Elise in the pub’s random meetings.

Keep saving, as more onsen costume banners are around the corner!
