Roxy for PVE
Emerging Desire Roxy is terrible for PVE because she has very low damage and unimpressive.
The Emerging Desire Roxy skill, even when fully upgraded, actually deals less damage than a standard attack. At its maximum potential (+5 upgrade), it only deals 210% damage (before considering any chain damage effects).
Honestly, if I’m picking Roxy, it’s for the damage she puts out. If I’m *not* focusing on that, then all she really brings to the table is her silence ability. And while silence can be really handy in PvE, it’s not unique to her – there are actually a bunch of other ways to silence enemies, like…
- Code Name S Schera (2 turns, 4-tile t-shape AOE)
- B-Rank Eleaneer (2 turns, 5-tile plus-shape AOE)
- Fiend Scholar Olstein (4 turns, 3×3 AOE)
- Lucrezia (6 turns, 5-tile plus-shape AOE)
Roxy’s area of effect (AOE) is smaller than all the other silencers we’ve discussed. Her base range only covers 2 tiles, and you’ll need to use a Tear – a valuable resource – to expand it to a third tile.
If you’re looking for characters who can silence enemies and also deal significant damage, Schera and Eleaneer are top picks. For longer silences affecting a larger area, Olstein and Lucrezia are effective and readily available without cost. Plus, Olstein is great at generating mana.
Roxy for PVP
Roxy’s only saving grace is that she is reasonably good for PVP.
Okay, so Roxy’s a really cool skill because it only costs 1 SP – that’s super rare! Being able to silence enemies for just 1 SP is a game-changer, especially on offense, because it totally messes up their plans. Plus, Roxy’s unique targeting and the way her attack hits a whole vertical line is awesome for getting at those enemies hiding in the back. She doesn’t do a ton of damage on her own, so don’t expect her to be a main damage dealer, but if you pair her with a buffing character like Helena (who’s a B-Rank Idol), you can sometimes one-shot weaker enemies with low Magic Resistance. It’s a fun combo!
Even though Roxy was released over a year ago, she’s still effective enough to be used in high-level competitive play.
However, Roxy has some important drawbacks that prevent her from being top tier.
Firstly, Emerging Desire Roxy has low skill damage, as mentioned above.
Roxy is easily defeated because she has very low health. Even if she successfully silences an enemy, she might not be able to withstand a single attack in return.
Roxy’s ‘Respected Master’ costume is quite expensive, costing 6 SP, and its damage output is decent but not exceptional. While it can be useful against enemies with low Magic Resistance, it’s less effective against tougher, more resistant opponents. Plus, its high cost can limit what the rest of your team is able to do.
Regarding Roxy, while she can be effective in player-versus-player (PVP) battles, her costume isn’t generally considered strong. If you *do* want to use Roxy for PVP, be aware that it’s expensive. You’ll need to fully upgrade two costumes, and those costumes aren’t very useful in any other game modes, making the investment significant.
Roxy’s exclusive weapon
Before you invest in Roxy, it’s crucial to remember that her special equipment is available in limited quantities.
Okay, so if you *really* want to make Roxy a damage monster, you’ve gotta hit +5 on her before the limited-time banner ends. But that’s not all! You *also* need to snag her special gear – it gives her a huge 45% boost to Magic Attack. Seriously, if you don’t get it during this banner, you’re out of luck forever, and you’ll miss out on all that extra damage potential.
Buying Roxy’s special weapon is more of a treat than a necessity, and it’s best suited for players who are serious about high-level player-versus-player combat with her.
Conclusion
Okay, so I’m really disappointed with Emerging Desire Roxy in PvE – she just doesn’t do enough damage and feels pretty weak. But honestly? She’s a beast in PvP! I’ve been using her on my attack teams because for only 1 skill point, she’s an amazing silencer. Seriously, that silence skill can single-handedly win you a match. It’s incredible!
Emerging Desire is a strong skill, but the character it’s attached to has some weaknesses. While Roxy deals relatively low damage, her main problem in player-versus-player combat is that she’s easily defeated, and her alternate skill, Respected Master, isn’t a great follow-up. This makes her a solid PVP choice – she’s still effective even a year after release – but not quite among the very best.
Using Roxy at her strongest in PvP is very expensive, requiring a lot of draw tickets and Tears. Considering older costumes are likely to be surpassed by newer, more powerful ones, it’s generally not worth the investment unless you already started building her up last year and are looking to finish what you started.
