Official Patch Notes

Exclusive Gear

Overview

Very very high raw damage if geared well

Very good for stacking chains

Boo Ghost is mainly good in PVE, other costume are mainly good in PVP

Very weak without her Comeback Idol costume, and needs to wait for Comeback Idol to cooldown

Only works well against certain kinds of enemies

Doesn’t benefit from ATK buffs

Granhildr for PVE

At +5 full potential, Granhildr hits 8 times for 8% of her Max HP plus 12% of her energy guard HP.

Granhildr, the Comeback Idol, creates a powerful shield that absorbs damage for 4 turns. The shield’s strength is equal to 350% of her maximum HP. However, the shield can’t exceed 105,000 HP, even if her maximum HP is higher than 30,000.

Therefore, if Granhildr has 30,000 HP, her damage per hit is:

Damage from 8% Max HP 2,400 x 8
Damage from 12% energy guard 12,600 x 8
Total damage (before chains) 120,000

Most of her damage relies on the strong energy guard provided by Comeback Idol. If Comeback Idol isn’t leveled up, Boo Ghost deals very little damage.

While 120,000 damage is already a significant amount, Boo Ghost Granhildr is capable of dealing even more. Certain support costumes, like Anti-Dystopia Diana and PWB Refi, can further increase her health and protection. Combining these costumes – for example, during a guild raid – could raise her damage output to approximately 150,000 before applying chain bonuses.

Compare this with some other top tier light attackers. Ignoring chains and crits:

  • Queen of Signatures Michaela with 2,500 M.ATK deals 2,500 x 1,170% = 29,250 damage
  • Sacred Justia with 2,500 ATK, against a “full house” of 9 enemies, deals 2,500 x 1,200 = 30,000 damage

When it comes to pure damage output, Boo Ghost Granhildr is incredibly powerful, potentially dealing four times the damage of other top-tier light costumes.

There are however some pretty big drawbacks, that overall bring down Boo Ghost’s power level.

Okay, so here’s the deal with these characters. Boo Ghost is super strong, but it relies a lot on Comeback Idol Granhildr. Granhildr has a 5-turn cooldown, and Boo Ghost does most of its damage by breaking through Granhildr’s energy shield. That basically forces me to wait 5 turns between powerful Boo Ghost attacks, even though Boo Ghost says it’s ready every 3 turns. It’s kinda annoying! Other characters, like Sacred Justia, can just hit hard every single turn, which is way more straightforward.

Boo Ghost becomes weaker if its energy shield is destroyed. Because Gran is forced to draw enemy attacks when she uses her taunt ability, it’s hard for her to deal her maximum possible damage.

Taunting enemies can be helpful or harmful when tackling difficult challenges. While it can sometimes provide an advantage, it can also disrupt your plans because you’re forced to take unavoidable damage.

Boo Ghost is unique because her damage is based on her HP, not her attack power. This means boosts to attack stats or attack buffs – even from enemy bosses – won’t help her. Unlike some other characters like Acting Archbishop Michaela or Whitebolt Yuri, she also doesn’t have any skills that directly increase her own stats, which puts her at a disadvantage.

Getting Boo Ghost ready to deal the most damage is challenging. To maximize damage output, you need to reach 30,000 HP and then focus on crit damage. While the Venomous Touch skill is great for crit damage, it requires a lot of highly upgraded, top-tier (UR IV) gear if you don’t use HP-boosting accessories like Charming Gaze or Ring of the Lake to reach that 30,000 HP threshold. This could mean building an entire set of UR IV gear specifically for fighting Granhildr in PvE, as few other characters benefit from this very specific HP and crit damage build.

Boo Ghost is powerful, but her strengths are well-rounded. She won’t be the top pick for every tough, dark-themed boss fight, and she really shines in specific situations where:

  • The enemy boss rewards you for a big nuke turn, rather than consistent damage every turn,
  • The enemy boss does not have strong attacks before your big nuke turns,
  • The enemy boss doesn’t give ATK buffs, and
  • The enemy boss has weak points that fit in her AOE.

Just one more thing: Boo Ghost excels at building long combo chains in Last Night. She’s also a strong pick for Tower of Salvation if you can get relics that boost her energy guard.

Granhildr for PVP

Granhildr has consistently been a top defender in player-versus-player (PVP) battles since her release. Her ‘Comeback Idol’ skill is incredibly powerful, forcing most attacking teams to build their strategies around overcoming it. Without a plan to handle her taunt and strong energy guard, winning consistently will be very difficult.

Okay, so as a gamer, let me tell you about Granhildr. She’s basically designed to take one hit and then fall, since her whole thing is taunting enemies and soaking up damage. If I do somehow manage to keep her alive past the first turn, it usually means my team used someone like Schera or Eleaneer to strip away her taunt and energy guard. It’s a pretty specific situation, honestly!

Boo Ghost isn’t very effective in player-versus-player (PVP) battles. You’ll seldom get a chance to use Granhildr, and even when you do, opponents likely won’t have their defenses up, meaning Boo Ghost won’t do much damage.

Okay, so I’ve been experimenting with Still Boo Ghost on Granhildr in PvP, and it can actually be surprisingly useful! It’s not always a game-changer, but if Granhildr somehow makes it past the first turn, just going straight into The Void often isn’t the best move. If she’s already hurt or the other player can strip her buffs, using The Void basically leaves her vulnerable. But, equipping Granhildr with Boo Ghost gives her a chance to do some damage, which is huge, especially when fighting Schera. Even if it doesn’t finish off the opponent, the eight hits from Boo Ghost can break through evasion buffs and really boost your overall damage output. It’s a nice little trick I’ve found!

Boo Ghost slightly improves Granhildr’s performance in player-versus-player combat, but Comeback Idol remains the strongest defensive choice.

Granhildr’s exclusive weapon

Granhildr’s special weapon isn’t essential, but it’s a worthwhile investment. It increases her health, significantly improving her ability to survive in player-versus-player combat. Plus, it boosts the damage of her Boo Ghost attack, helping it reach its maximum potential.

Conclusion

The character’s artwork is excellent, but she’s only useful in very specific situations. She can deal a lot of damage, but has several weaknesses that make her difficult to play effectively.

She’s not a good choice for new players or those unfamiliar with Comeback Idol Granhildr, but can be a powerful asset when facing certain opponents.
