As a seasoned gamer and ardent follower of the John Wick universe, I must say that the upcoming spinoff movie Ballerina has me utterly thrilled! The Ruska Roma’s enigmatic world of dance and assassination has always been intriguing, and Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro promises to deliver an exhilarating ride.
The world of the High Table reaches all corners of the globe. Assassins lurk the world over waiting to accept their next job. But how did Jardani Javanavič become the deadliest person to ever serve? We’re going to find out in the upcoming John Wick spinoff movie Ballerina, which will show another go through the very same training he did. And the first trailer for Ballerina promises an inside look at how the Ruska Roma trains both the best dancers and the best assassins.
In the John Wick universe, Ana de Armas will now assume the role of a lethal protagonist in the film titled “Ballerina”. This movie introduces Eve, a vengeful new character who discovers the requirements for serving the High Table. Interestingly, her narrative unfolds even before it appears that the stories of her infamous counterparts may come to an end in Paris (though they technically don’t). The official synopsis from Lionsgate clarifies where “Ballerina” fits within the broader John Wick timeline, thereby offering a clearer focus for the trailer.
Set within the timeframe of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the story revolves around Eve Macarro (played by Ana de Armas), who embarks on her education in the killing techniques of the Ruska Roma’s assassin culture.
In the lore of this captivating franchise, it was during that period when the Ruska Roma faced a myriad of challenges for siding with John Wick in Chapter 3. That’s also when Anjelica Huston graced our screens as The Director, and she’ll be back to weave more intrigue in the spinoff. Similarly, Lance Reddick, who sadly passed away, will make a poignant posthumous appearance as Charon. The enigmatic Ian McShane and the charismatic Keanu Reeves are set to return for another round of High Table escapades, and their involvement in this spinoff is quite evident from the trailer. Joining them are some fresh faces such as Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus, adding a new layer of excitement to the storyline.
In how many cases will they possess the necessary skills to prevent their performance from coming to a permanent close? The answer will be revealed when Ballerina, directed by Len Wiseman, premieres in cinemas on June 6, 2025.
