Jeff Goldblum, an actor and musician, honored the veterans from the industry who passed away within the past year at the BAFTA Awards ceremony held at London’s Royal Festival Hall on South Bank Center. During the memorial segment, he played the piano and sang As Time Goes By, with a slideshow of late celebrities playing in the background.
At the memorial part of the event, a slideshow displayed photographs of Donald Sutherland, James Earl Jones, Joan Plowright, Gena Rowlands, Kris Kristofferson, and Shelley Duvall. The images of two famous figures, David Lynch, director of Blue Velvet, and Maggie Smith, who played in the Harry Potter series, remained on screen until the end.

It was just a simple melody at the time, but little did we know that it would soon become a timeless classic. Fast forward to 1942, this song found its true calling when it graced the silver screen in Casablanca. From that moment on, it captured the hearts of millions, becoming as iconic as the film itself.
Regarding Goldblum’s performance, BAFTA organizers expressed that his emotional approach would create a heartfelt and intimate homage. Additionally, they mentioned that when not on screen, Jeff Goldblum maintains a devoted fanbase through his jazz band, known as the Mildred Snitzer Orchestra.
Conversely, the actor-musician enjoyed an outstanding previous year, earning accolades for his portrayal of the Wizard in Wicked.
