BACKROOMS Feature Film Trailer Shows…Well, the Backrooms

The new teaser is really intriguing. We hear what sound like the voices of Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renata Reinsve talking about searching for a room – one that seems to stretch on forever. The teaser suggests the rooms have a memory, but the more they remember, the less functional they become. We see a seemingly normal living room with a recliner, but the camera quickly descends through the floor, revealing a deteriorating version of the same room. Eventually, we’re shown the iconic, endless hallways of the Backrooms, complete with pale wallpaper, carpet, and unsettling neon lights. It’s definitely the Backrooms!

The poster is very simple, almost like a sample of wallpaper. It’s clean and minimalist, which fits the overall style of the project.

Kane Pixels became well-known on YouTube thanks to his short film, The Backrooms, which showcased his talent for creating unsettling and imaginative environments using software like Blender. This led to a series of analog horror videos that expanded on the Backrooms concept—a strange, liminal space you end up in when you seemingly glitch out of reality. He followed that up with another unusual series called The Oldest View, centered around an abandoned mall haunted by a creepy, oversized parade float of a bearded historical figure. It’s definitely odd, but I found it enjoyable.

The film stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve, along with Mark Duplass, Finn Bennett (known for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), and Lukita Maxwell from Shrinking.

Backrooms hits theaters May 29, 2026.
