As an ardent fan of Nicole Kidman and her mesmerizing acting prowess, I must say that this woman continues to surprise me with her choice of roles! From the chilling matriarch in The Perfect Couple to the youthful charm of dating Zac Efron in A Family Affair, and now diving headfirst into the steamy world of Babygirl.
As a dedicated follower of her career, I must say that Nicole Kidman is taking on some intriguing roles lately! Following her portrayal of the deceitful matriarch in The Perfect Couple and dating the charismatic Zac Efron in A Family Affair, she’s back for another round with A24’s latest offering, Babygirl. On October 1st, the studio unveiled the first trailer for this film, revealing a more sensual side of Kidman.
A powerful businesswoman finds herself entangled in a passionate relationship with a young intern, risking both her professional life and her family’s peace. However, the complexity of their situation deepens as she must conceal this clandestine affair from her husband and children. In short, the storyline revolves around a CEO jeopardizing her career and family for an illicit romance with a junior colleague.
The Academy Award-winning actress collaborates with Harris Dickinson portraying the role of a young intern, Sophie Wilde from Talk to Me, and Antonio Banderas as her onscreen spouse. In a recent conversation with PEOPLE, she shared her enthusiasm for teaming up with female filmmakers who are making a significant impact in the industry today.
She counted Babygirl’s director Halina Reijn, Expats director Lulu Wang, and people like Susanne Bier and Karyn Kusama on the list. “These women are either in their prime or are in that sort of launching stage,” she told the outlet. As an artist, Kiman loves to surrender to their world and vision and be the best possible support.
At a press conference held in Venice, the actress from Big Little Lies shared that she never felt mistreated while shooting intimate scenes for Babygirl. She explained to the journalists that it was Halina, the director, who made it intriguing because she assured her she wouldn’t take advantage of her.
She stated that the intimate scenes were essential elements of the narrative as they advanced the plot. “I felt compelled to be a part of this story, to share it with others. And I gave my all to make it happen,” she explained, further mentioning that the team took exceptional care of her during production.
Babygirl will be released in theaters worldwide on December 25.
